It helps a lot towards reducing detonation and therefore giving you either a safer tune OR letting you push a more aggressive tune with reduced risk of detonation.. (Gman is correct, most of us let our FI systems/do the work and use the Alky/Water injection for added safety on the tune)
I will let someone with more experience get into the details. Basically you can read up on it here though.

Thanks for the info bambam and gman.
I know that after adding the WI it makes the AFR more rich. do I have to return after installing the WI kit? and which brand is recommended for the Z?

From what I am told using water/ meth. injection has most of its gains in the form of being able to advance timing and other tuning parameters more agressively gaining power that way. Have my custom kit installed but have not dynoed since there is 1ft. of snow where I live and car is in storage, but will be getting it tuned with injection in spring.

It's basically like running high octane fuel. The only differences with gas is the ability to prevent detonation. A cooler air charge allows this. What makes it so effective is that a slight misting is all that is needed to drop the combustion chamber heat, raise cylinder pressure (water can't be compressed only air) and prevent the onset of detonation throught the cooling effect water has. With a proper mix you can run more timing and boost. It's dirt cheap race fuel...the methanol mix is even better

i am running snow performances methanol injection....my tuner said its the best kit out there in his opinion ... snowperformance.net .....even if you dont run more timing but want to lean the car out a bit more its almost a bit of a safeguard from detonation and hurting your motor...methanol is in windshield wiper fluid/heat!! u could use this but they supply premixed stuff that u can clean ur windshield with also(by using your resevior for holding it) ...either way always get that car tuned!! too many blown motors on untuned vehicles. ....frown....shakes head.....walks away .....

i run 50/50 mix . and by just leaning the a/f back to where it was [ before w/m injection ] i gain 40 whp. my stock timing at wot would advance to 26 degree's . after the w/m kit was installed . the stock timing advanced to 30 degree . i think the stock ecu went to its agressive map when i added the w/m injection .

I also run a 50-50 mix. My car is not tuned for it, I use it as a safety margin. I noticed an average drop of 50F in my EGTs with the methanol/water injection. I'm using a CoolingMist kit. I'm also using the winsheild washer reservoir for it, works great.

he might see 34, but I don't think he will get a bottle of water to freeze outside ever

You might give Sharif a call. He installed a Spearco Water Injection System on a customers car and did before and after dynos. With no tuning just installing the Spearco WIS kit he noted ZERO loss in HP but the AFR went over 1 point richer.
