thats awsome vortech did the same a ati i loved changin the oil in the headunit after going to the track it wasnt hard at all i usually just changed it whne i did an oil change +1000000 on vortech
does it sound like a whine in idle or more like a jet? I think I'm going to LOVE the way it sounds. I'm sure you get compliments on the way it sounds also.
^ mine rattles like I am about to lose a valve or something...at idle (450) but from 950 to 1300 RPMs I have the nice whistle..sounds great in parking garages...then after that its quiet until about 5K then the bypass valve starts hissing at you....
scares the crap out of people if I run it to redline but let the RPMS just hang on the way back down...the look and peoples faces is priceless.
sound clip not mine...mine is a louder rattle when the oil pressure is low in the blower

So its the same as the V2 in every way only there's no oil lines? The only reason I would consider changing out the blower is if they got rid of the rattle noise at idle, which it doesn't seem to be the case. I love the sound it makes at power though!
Changing oil every 1000 miles seems like a pain in the ass. I change the oil in my car every 3K and run the German Castrol, so I'm not concerned about my blower not having clean oil. Change it out with proprietary oil every 1,000 miles? No thanks.
if I'm not mistaken you don't have to change the supercharger oil out every 1000 miles. You change the oil for the first time out at around 1000 miles but after that I think it's like every 5 to 7k miles. Also can't you make the rattle sound "better" by raising your RPMs to around 900?

The instructions are to change it out with the proprietary oil every 7500 miles. The first change is earlier however at 2500 miles and after that just every 7500.
It's an upgrade to some who 1) don't want to drill an oil line 2) may want to turn their cars back to stock and this makes it even easier later since it leaves no permanent mark on the car 3) would rather have their engine fluids not be disturbed by anything that may or may not coming out of an aftermarket part such as the supercharger.
Isolating the two systems can be a benefit if seen in this light.
I guess I'm looking at it from the perspective of us V2 guys doing an upgrade, as we already have drilled oil pans which work great. Changing it every 7,500 isn't that bad I guess.
I could bump my idle but since I have a 2004.5 I would have to reflash the ECU, which is pricey and I wouldn't have the car for a few days. Bumping the idle is a pretty weak solution in my opinion anyway, you burn more fuel and the higher rpm's make more noise, which is what you're trying to get rid of by bumping the idle in the first place. Do all centrifugal sc's make the rattle or is it only the Vortechs that do this?
+1,
that's pretty much my take on it
I don't see it as an "upgrade" option
it's just a different option for those doing new installs IMO

All SC make some sort of noise... Just like our car manufactures say change the oil every 3 - 7.5K depending....Well I change mine after hard track days....but now maily because the SC. I love the idea of changing it after a ruff day at the track...
dealer wants $102 bucks to pump the idle to 950 from my stock 450. The rattle does stop and the whine starts at that point, which is better IMO.
Next hundred bucks I have to blow.... I'll bump it or just buy the software myself from AAM. $450ish
