yeah you're going to be in the same situation with the rattle noise either way with the V2 or V3
IMO the rattle sound is more annoying than the exhaust being louder at idle. It will burn a little more gas of course.
For me, with cams and a touchy flywheel, raising the idle was not only required to be 850 rpms at least, I noticed how much easier it is to drive sensitive racing clutches when it idles higher

I could bump my idle but since I have a 2004.5 I would have to reflash the ECU, which is pricey and I wouldn't have the car for a few days. Bumping the idle is a pretty weak solution in my opinion anyway, you burn more fuel and the higher rpm's make more noise, which is what you're trying to get rid of by bumping the idle in the first place. Do all centrifugal sc's make the rattle or is it only the Vortechs that do this?
^ mine rattles like I am about to lose a valve or something...at idle (450) but from 950 to 1300 RPMs I have the nice whistle..sounds great in parking garages...then after that its quiet until about 5K then the bypass valve starts hissing at you....
scares the crap out of people if I run it to redline but let the RPMS just hang on the way back down...the look and peoples faces is priceless.
sound clip not mine...mine is a louder rattle when the oil pressure is low in the blower
oh thats your vid, nice, i have listened to it many times. Just to make sure im not crazy and that stupid "gargle" that the kit makes at low rpm <700... sounds like its going to break. but i guess its their trademark.

sound clip not mine.... I said that in the post...just trying to help you out...lol

BIG HUGE thanks to slamdbusa from W.T.I. (West Texas Imports) who did all the work the past 2 days. Also thanks to 4Shizzil who was able to give me some guidance when we came to something that didn't make sense.
So she's alive and she runs GREAT! AFR b/t 10-11 the on WOT. Ran smoothly and had no issues since. The cipher is GREAT as a diagnostic tool. The Unichip really takes care of thing well when on WOT. Not sure if this is normal but sometimes when I'm at 1/4 or 1/2 throttle I get higher readings around 12-12.5. On WOT, like I said, always b/t 10-11 and usually closer to 11.
Also, for some reason I didn't need to change the idle. At the red light it runs almost silently. I'll continue to check this out and change it accordingly.
So the V3 is actually quite easy to drain the oil out. My mechanic made it so that I could access the cable by just removing the plastic shield under the bumper. Very straight forward. The side valuve to refill the supercharger however is a bit more of achallenge to get to. It takes a small allen wrench to open it up and you use the bottles they send to refill it. The packet says for you to change the fluid at 2500 miles the first time and refill it at 7500 after that. That comes out to just about changing it twice a year or every 2 oil changes if you do yours at 3750.
So far as the rest of the kit goes it was cake to install and required a lot of tiny modifications and fabrications here and there to make fit perfectly. This could've been because the place where we wanted to put certain things (like the power steering cooler)was different than the manuals so we had to make little brackets here and there.
The fitment of the SC bracket is REALLY snug. It barely fits in with the piping that comes up to the TB. The G35 also doesn't have that nice big hole in the front of the frame piece so that the air filter can breathe like on the 350z. instead it's blocked pretty badly. Our guy cut a little bit of that fiberglass part so that it's easier for me to reach in there later to clean and change my filter.
I'll get pics probably next week as I'm actually leaving town tomorrow for a 9 hour drive to Houston.
^^ Civic...the rattle at idle in the V2 SC is due to no oil pressure. You dont have that problem... so no need to adjust the idle.
Im soooo jealous but happy for anyone who brings new life in their car...be it tires, shocks, audio, or boost. I just love cars. I need to race them for a living.
anyways.....awaiting pics!
I'll need that hook up in October!
