Default Glex25 Winter Build

Well almost ready to start building been gathering parts for awhile and today the pistons arrived

The Donor Motor

Something extra to put the power down

Still have to order some small stuff before taking it to the machine shop
Nismo Thermostat
New Rev-up Oil pump
Gasket Kit
HR Headgaskets
Pathfinder Cooling Mod
Forge Wastegate Actuators

Decided to switch the C8R for the S7R cams
Still undecided if I should do headwork since
I will be limited in power by by a few things
(DW 600cc Inj, Single pump fuel Assy, APS TT, Clutch)
unless I get a influx of funds to upgrade the turbos like Cass did

I would be happy with upper 600's daily driver but that won't happen unless I upgrade the turbo/clutch/injectors and get a CJM Dual Fuel Pump assembly to accommodate the already existing CJM fuel system.

For now I will be happy to get anywhere close to 600WHP(93oct/Meth) which is what the APS standard TT kit have maxed out.

The turbo upgrade alone is another $2500 out of pocket
Clutch that can handle more than 600whp is another $2k
Injectors would be another $800-$1000
Headwork would be around $2500 for a full Ferrea valvetrain plus
3 angle valve job and port and polish.

My pockets ain't that deep that and I will be happy with what I can get
with what I have now.

I mostly road course so even with 600whp I will still be overpowering the track anything above that was just for Bravado and Ego.

I think you've got a very realistic handle on things. Never discount that the failure rate increases as the whp goes up, so pockets have to stay deep... Mid 500s is the sweet spot for a street car that you can enjoy day in and day out for years.

The ones in the box are the ARP main bolts
The ones wrapped in the brown wrapper are L19's
That's how I got them from Kyle from Import Parts Pro

Yeah Cass let's see what happens for the Airstrip run next year

Good Eye but no

That is the Injected Performance Billet Girdle

I bought a few things with full intentions of upgrading the few parts to make above 600whp but that doesn't seem to be the case now so i will be overbuilding the shortblock slightly

It's the Koyo R Radiator

Nothing as of yet on the oil cooler
Still looking for mounting solutions before I decide on one

IMO your goals are realistic and will make for useable street power. Didnt know to upgrade from 600whp would be such an increase in funds wow def not worth it. Thumbs up for building a streetable high hp car and not just a dyno queen.

Nice parts. BTW Why did you buy rod bolts? The eagle rods already come with arp rod bolts.

Yes I do have to order one

Took the block apart today and dropped it off at the machine shop.
The rod journal at the furthest most from the oil pump is scorched but not scored but from oil starvation.
I tried taking the best pics I could to show the damage.

We took measurements of the rod journal where the con rod bearings go and the one that suffered from oil starvation has a 1/1000th difference to the other rod journals.
Good ones read 2.0455
The bad one reads 2.0445

I might be in the market for a Crankshaft.
I called Weston Machines they said they might have some but then found out they didn't.
I contacted Kyle and he didn't have any either.

Anyone know anyone else who I might contact for a Crank?

Everything else looks good.

Thanks goes out to 1cockyz for helping me today take the block apart and take the measurements.

Hey Glen,
I knew you would be giving in to a build sooner than later. Good stuff.
I think a new crank from Nissan is around $650. Might be worth the extra peace of mind.
You never know what you're gonna get if you try to salvage something from an unknown origin. Either that or the crank may have been butchered by someone who thinks that straightening them is actually possible. You never know.
Just take your time and do it right.
Good Luck.

Thanks Randy
Figured I would finally build this one up and
keep the one in my car on the side as backup while it's still running strong

I'm still waiting to hear back from the machine shop about the crank.
In the meantime i got a whole list of gaskets/seals/o-rings/valve seals/valve seats/valve springs I need to order
