Anyone regret going FI?
I'm considering FI for my Z, but fear a lack of reliability and longevity with this particular N/A motor if converted to forced induction. This is not my daily driver, and it wouldn't be the end of the world if I ended up bending/breaking a connecting rod or damaging a piston or cylinder wall. But, honestly, although monetarilly not a huge deal . . . it would still be a hassle and PITA to get it fixed.
So, my question is: if you "do it right" . . . which I translate to mean . . . tune it correctly, start conservatively, keep the HP around 400 or less, torque around 350 or less, keep the boost low and conservative . . can this motor be converted to FI and still give an owner years of trouble free driving experience and last 100,000 or more miles? I would particularly like to hear from anyone who kept the internals stock (stock pistons, stock rods, stock heads, stock cams) and has more than 100,000 miles with a forced induction setup.

I looked for threads in the FI forum. On the first page of "search this forum" with the keyword of "regret". Did you search at all?
If you want to recall the threads, post in them and search all your posts or just subscribe to it. Don't start another thread and scatter the information about when it would be much more accessible and organized condensed into existing threads.

I regret to inform you that you are a douche . . . my question is simple . . . what is the longest anyone has succeeded in keeping the stock motor boosted? It goes to the heart of whether it is adviseable to boost this motor.

Actually your question isnt that simple because every answer consists of a multitude of variables that it would render the answer inconclusive so what would you really be learning from it.

I've been a member of these forums since way back. I bought my 2003 Z when they were first coming out and remember the first Vortech kit and people awaiting the original Greddy TT kit . . . . there were some early adopters of FI that led the way and began the data collection that all have benefitted from. Clearly the FI community of these forums has changed. Peace.

I actually had my vortech kit in hand before my Z was even delivered to the dealership.
Got a call from the dealer that the z just arrived, Drove her home, installed the kit the next day and drove her like a rapped ape ever since!!! ( probably why my rev-up has never burned oil. ha,ha ) 5 years later with 25K miles of weekend warrior driving and still running like a top. KNOCK ON WOOD!

I've had a boosted Z since 05 and I absolutely love it to death. This was my first ever boosted car and it's been a blast since.
I miss the FI forums... It's not the same anymore.

^^^ thanks. I've been lurking for years around here; here's an ancient thread by me back in 2003 awaiting the 1st Vortech kit: https://my350z.com/forum/forced-indu...for-350-z.html
Anyway . .. . I just figured that since the Vortech kit is around 7 years old now, that maybe someone out there had installed it and left it alone (avoiding boost addiction) and could claim 50,000+ miles on a boosted stock motor.
