BUDGET Turbo Project- Started
#324
Confirmed that car IS slower than before. Hooked up the computer(only boost gauge I have is on my laptop) Boosted only 1-1.9 psi and only above 6500rpm. I did have the hose disconnected on the wastegate(but that would make it overboost) I hooked it up anyways and still same thing.
I need to take wastegate apart and see why it's staying open. I'm in the process of buying my second house and haven't had much time to play around with it. May take some time before I get around to working on it

I bought this kit and changed out the wastegate and bov to a tial and I also had boostlab rebuild the turbo using garret internals. My problem is that I can;t get the piping to align correctly. I am about to sell the kit. Props to Op for getting this kit running.

BOV is staying closed(opens when it should at what little PSI I'm building) When I took the turbo out to fix the A/C line I verified the shaft play and that it span flawlessly.
No intercooler piping is off. All clamps are tight.
I did take the top of the WG off and normally you can pull the diaphragm up slightly to reveal the large nut underneath. . .I couldn't move it at all.
So the Wastegate is stuck closed? Which still doesn't explain no boost...this would mean lots of boost. I need to take it off completely or possibly switch it out to a spare that I have
I want to track this before the track closes on OCT31. So expect a timeslip before then

Found the problem. I am not sure how I missed this the first time I looked at the couplers....I'm still kinda impressed I managed 1.9psi at redline even with that off
Bolted back up with "5"psi spring(Tial spring with emusa wastegate). It's doing 7-7.5psi, but not over 8 since that's where my boost cutout is set at.
Took my Kat Matrix 3-axis accelerometer out on the highway(was .1 sec slow from a 15.7 quarter mile vehicle at new england drags)
Ran 13.1 at 111mph. Launch bad. shifts good and this is with the stock exhaust

Track day oct 19. Can't go on Wed/Friday street night because of my e-cutout(unless I onlt want to get one run before they kick me out)
I'll be at New England Dragway on Oct 19 with a g37coupe(stock) 2010 WRX (stock) a 565whp 05 GT500 Possibly a stock 370z and maybe a 2010 s4 or a couple of 636 motorcycles and then myself

3RD best run of the day(only video taped a few because they didn't like the mount on my window so moved it to my side window, but became a pain when I had to grab my slip at the end of every run)
Traction is first was an issue(275's Sumitomo HTR Z II) Deflating tires did not give any better results
. Any launch at lower rpms or riding clutch to avoid spin would yield lower 1/4 times(up to 13.3 worst run)
13.06 run

If you do a lot of drag, just get DR's on dedicated 17's to swap for strip days . Very much needed for good times
