Default Vortech motor build

EDIT: This project is complete. View the results on page 7 HERE

My stock motor tapped out after 2.5 years of daily-driven boost and a couple hard track days. Looks like a rod snapped and shredded the block to pieces
while I was cruising to work. The car is now at Z Car Garage for a complete Rebello rebuild. They have already ripped out the motor and will
hand off to Rebello soon.

The new build includes 9.5 compression with moly-coated JE pistons, Eagle rods, upgraded HR parts, Supertech intake valves, JWT C2 cams/springs,
Bosch EV14 900cc injectors, Pathfinder cooling mod, Aeromotive 340lph fuel pump, ATP Garrett 30x12x3.5 intercooler, Fluidampr pulley, GTM dual pulley kit, Evans waterless coolant, and an UpRev tune.
Gonna set the rev limit to 7,000 which puts my upgraded V3 Si Vortech at 53,000 rpm with my 3.12 pulley. The Si max speed is 52,000.

EDIT: I have decided to upgrade to an Si impeller and a larger intercooler.

EDIT 2: I purchased a Kinetix Velocity manifold, NWP 75mm throttle body, and a custom 3" one-piece intake pipe.

Wow...didn't know a Vortech kit could do that much damage; I thought only turbo guys get holes in their blocks...

Everything in your build looks great but I would upgrade to an intercooler like oldman350z and I would do the Si impeller now while the car is down. I wouldn't try to continue to spin your v3 blower for more boost like I did. Plus you get more torque with the Si impeller than to stay with your V3 impeller. Good luck with your build.

I already own the intercooler. I'm also not willing to modify my crash bar in any way, even if it does mean lower AIT's. EDIT: I upgraded the intercooler

I won't be overspinning. The V3 SCi is good for 53,000 which I'll barely hit at 7k rpm. I would prefer to wait to swap impellers for more boost until after the motor is properly broken in. Rob is going to inspect my blower and we'll discuss changing impellers if there's any sign of play or wear. EDIT: I upgraded the impeller

I'm also a customer of Rob. Just wanted to give a little bit of input since I've found out the limitation of my V3 blower. You can always ask Rob if the intercooler that I have on my car will require crash bar modification. Just want to give you more options and save money in the end. I will be building my motor in the future. I don't know how much longer my stock block will handle the 550whp+ will last. I didn't mean to step on your toes and will not post any more input. Good luck with your build.

You're not stepping on anybody's toes. I appreciate the input. I'll ask Rob what he thinks about your intercooler. Thanks for the tips.

Edit: I'm guessing you're the other Steve with the G35. You made 456wtq...I don't know how your motor is holding but you're doing something right.

Nice window in your block, lol. Might as well just go ahead and upgrade to the SI while the car is down. Cant wait to see what kind of numbers you put down. GL

you def dont need to modify the crash bar for the 4" intercooler.

Those pics are from my car in 2008, so its funny to think that people still are worried about the crash bar

air is cooled by the mass of the intercooler moreso than air flow itself. i was running 17psi with AITs barely over ambient while hot lapping at the drag strip.

Hopefully, you get your baby running again soon. Was wondering what happened to you. Haven't heard from you in a while. I'm still running strong, (knocking on wood). Going to keep tabs on this build. I have a similar build once my goes boom.

I also highly recommend the SI wheel now, then in the future. And going with the 4" intercooler. Why pay for the labor twice? In regards of breaking your engine in, just take it easy during that time. GL bro!

On my original set up, I also had a front mount, and my crush bar wasn't hacked up or anything either to fit. I would definitely recommend running an intercooler for any F/I set up. Good luck with the build.

This is the one ZCG recommends, but it's costly. There are a few zcg customers running this unit.
