Default Tuning Questions for a Procharger Supercharger

I search the threads and online but couldn't fine a solid answer. Forgive me if missed any threads that already answered this question.

I got a 2004 Z that I'm putting a procharger supercharger in. Engine is currently stock with about 80,000 miles. I getting mixed answers from different tune shops.

Would there be any issues trying to get my Z tuned with the supercharger? Could I run a dyno with the factory ECU and get results or would I need a after market ECU. I also heard that because of the year I wouldn't be able to tune the car.

Thanks guys

Look to see if you have widebands. You should be able to see the plugs from the top, they're on the valve covers. 5 wire are widebands. The later 04s all have widebands, and some of the earlier ones do as well. My car falls into the VIN number range of an early 04, but I have widebands.

Ps I tried using the procharger dfmu and the car ran like a bag o **** lol.

Are you getting this new from ATI?? You can use their fuel management unit which work very well for this kit. You will get about 400whp and I would not go above that.

Looks like NissanZcrazy didnt like the FMU that much, I can see his point after owning a procharger for 5years but I had no issues tuning with their FMU. If it was me, I would try the FMU and if you don't like it and/or it doesnt work look into Osiris which will work fine with the procharger.

Even with widebands installed on your OEM ECU I would not rely on the OEM ECU to control your AFR. Wouldnt you run into problems with the OEM MAF too - can it register that much air flow?

you may want to venture out into the ford mustang tuning shops - procharger is pretty popular with them...

If you buy a ready to go version of the Procharger "FMU, Injectors, Boost Pump" you will good to go on stock ecu. If you get a tuner version you willl need injectors, pump, possibly a FRS and just get it tuned with Uprev, your stock MAF will be fine as well.

Thank you guys for the great info. I was kinda lost at first with what to do as far as tuning and parts. Now I know the direction I need to go.

Osiris Tune
UpRev MAF GT sensor

Start off with that and go from there.

+1 as long as you're sticking with stock block power levels save your money and keep the stock MAF. I would highly recommend an Osiris dyno tune tho

Thank guys, u saved me about $300 on that MAF

So with the stock MAF, I can still pulled conservative HP. Like 400HP??

Yup I'm definitely getting a Osiris dyno tune, according to the tuner I can buy a license and get it dyno for bout $650. I just want to make sure cause I don't have cruise control so I can only map it once.

Yes you can run stock MAF and be safely at 400. Read this thread https://my350z.com/forum/forced-indu...ev-gt-maf.html

Oldmanz350 is hitting over 500whp on the stock MAF, its all about tuning.

Oldmanz350 is running 500whp with a stock MAF because he is using the SS box, which uses MAP for the tune, and not uprev, which uses the MAF for the tune...there's no way a stock MAF will hit 500whp with uprev...

Actually there is a way. Attenuate the signal with a resistor so you can fit the full range of the sensor under the ECU's 5.1v cap. I made a thread on it in the tuning section if you're interested.

Yeah you're right, I did read your thread...but technically that's not a stock maf anymore
