Default So there are NO TURBO KITS for VQ35HR?!?

So yes that is absolutely correct people, I am on hunt for a twin turbo kit for my HR but there is no one selling a tuner kit for the VQ35HR at the moment. GTM might advertise it and I can send them my money but I have no Idea when I would even see the kit at my doorstep. Greddy is currently Revising their VQ35HR kit so current greddy kit not for sell anymore (due to turbo manifolds cracking). There are some great people offering in house builds such as RAD Engineering, AAM Competition, and couple more. The only thing there is to do is to buy a 370Z twin turbo kit from any other company like Greddy, fast intentions, and god knows what others company makes a kit on the shelf for the 370Z. I'd like to get some input from everyone, let me know what you guys think. Mean while I am sleeveing my block and getting pistons rods bolts the whole nine. So yes people let's hear your thoughts on this.

Manny I think AAM just releasted one? Greddy does but might be second hand? What about single? BP from the 370? You close to Jtran?

Singles better anyway

AAM offered their kit but as an inhouse build and I don't think it would be a good Idea transporting my Z from Deep South texas to New York. My car will be built and tuned by JMS racing in San Antonio, but there are no on the shelf tuner kits I can just order online and arrive at my door step in a week... 😢

Called greddy to sell me the Bolt-on tuner kit and they said they aren't selling it anymore due to manifold cracking complaints which they also said the reason for cracking is that people aren't using an exhaust system with flex pipe. Still they did not sell me the kit, they they were revising the kit and they were coming out with a better kit with better upgraded turbos and tubular style. But release date is by the end of this year early next year, but if I come a cross something I can ****** up I'll take it. Preferable bolt on like the greddy kit for my car not a 370Z kit that I have to modify the intercooler piping and down pipes to fit my car.

What kind of power? What powerband? I cannot see any reason to go with twins. There are too many unknowns when trying to piece one together for a HR. You can size a single for whatever goals. I've ridden in a 550hp TT G35, Driven a 400TQ Single 6266 that made 10 psi under 4000 rpms, and my car that makes 17 psi and 500TQ+ around 4600-7700 rpm on pump gas. I had much more fun in the ST.

I had the same problem as you with the HR. And like you I was steered away from GTM. I'm very happy with my custom single, and it is sized to make a 750hp if I want to go for it.

Well I am getting the Darton MID sleeves installed on the block along with 9.5:1 comp CP pistons, BC 625+ rods, ARP L19 head stud and bolt kit, GTM fuel return system with fuel rails, OEM gaskets and bearings UPRev GT MAFs. I'm looking for a conservative 600whp and thinking of going E-85.

That's pretty much what I (I means JTran) did, minus the sleeves and went 10:1. If you haven't already, take a look at some of the power being made by the singles on the 370Z forum. All on stock headers with a PT6266. Quick spool and rated to make around 600whp on a built motor.

I only keep bringing up singles because I'm so happy with mine. And they are easier to custom build since you don't need turbo manifolds. Stock headers will be fine.

Well I'm getting kinda interested if you don't mind me asking about total cost of your build plus custom single turbo and tune and all. If you'd like to take this to the PMs I'll be waiting.

If you’re shooting for 600whp why not keep the stock sleeves?

I've got GTM. It takes about 3 months, that's if you call every week and ask like I did.

Power is great, fitment sucks a d1ck.

- S&R has a single turbo kit for the HR.
- Greddy I dunno from your post. If you really wanna go FI I'd wait for Greddy. (It's what I wish I did)
- I also saw someones post on AAM. I think I heard about a kit from them as well.
- I think "Boosted Performance(?) has a mid-mount kit they are working on for the HR. I know they are originally for the DE, but I'd look into it. weight distribution would be much favorable with a mid mount setup.

My son might want to have higher WHP and TQ numbers so might as well have it ready.

Why don't you save yourself about 15k a ton of headache and a lot of time and go for 500whp on stock block and enjoy it?

If you think finding a turbo kit is a pita, wait for the headaches of a build. Even when working with a shop. Things get... Annoying.

^ It's what I'd do / did.

OP, I dont really think it's worth the extra $15k or so to build and only go for 60whp more.

These HRs are good for 540whp.

It's my spare block that they are building it's got about 12000 miles on it my current VQ HR motor has approximately 9000 miles on it. I hate to talk about about what happen to my other engine, it happened when I want installing my cams. So yea that's why I want to build my other block with sleeves.

sleeves are a waste of money and leave a lot of extra room for mistakes and problems, all just to solve a problem nobody has.

60,000 miles on my engine my Z, 40,000 with the turbos. HR/VHR are strong. I would boost it and think about the build further down the road.

Sleeves maybe good for an oversized bore, depending on how serious he's getting.

Ok guys you all made me talk about "THE SUBJECT" I have a spare VQ35HR block which is my 1st motor my Z came with. In the process of getting my Cams and valve train installed the people at some shop (will not mention any names) tried doing the work to my car. They installed everything, but forgot to machine the seats for the valves I had ordered. So he would turn on the car with horrible knock noise and not one but all valves were literally slapping the valve seats therefore causing metal flakes to fall down through the cilynder walls of ever piston. I towed it from that shop to another and the found metal shavings inside the oil pan so they adviced me that they would do the work but they would not warranty it unless I would get another motor, so I bought a whole new motor with heads and everything from courtesy Nissan and it the one I got right now wit only cams no valve train work. So now I have a spare motor/block with scratched cilynder walls that I can install new sleeves on and use it for FI plus I'll store my current motor and wrap it up in plastic wrap I case any failures.
