Default My Vortech Build

I finally have the time to create a thread for my build, so here it goes.

Before I begin, I would like to give thanks to OldmanZ350 for being helpful along the way.

My vehicle is a 2006 350z RevUp Touring edition.

My current modifications are below:

Vortech supercharger kit V3 for Revup (Sci Trim)
2.87 Pulley
TimRod Brace
DW300 fuel pump
ID850 fuel injectors
CJM S1-S Fuel Return System
UpRev GT MAF
Berk Resonated test pipes
ARK Grip v2 exhaust
NGK iridium spark plugs (1 step colder)
NWP big bore throttle body
Samco coolant hoses
ST coilovers
SPL Pro V3 Front Upper Camber/Caster Arms
SPL TITANIUM Rear Camber Links
SPL rear toe kit

I'm UpRev tuned at 453whp on 93oct with 11.5'ish pounds of boost.
This is on a stock block, stock clutch/flywheel at 105k miles.

If you're reading this thread then you could probably relate to the unquenchable thirst for more power.

I'm planning on an engine rebuild before I increase the power though.

This is what I have purchased but have not yet installed:

ZSpeed Stage 2 Clutch and Lightweight Billet Flywheel
Treadstone TR1245 Intercooler
Wiseco 8.8:1 Pistons, .02 over
Eagle Rods, ARP 2000 bolts
ACL Race Bearings
ARP L19 Head Studs
Tomei Head Gasket, 96mm x 0.7mm
R-Rydes V2 1 Piece Vortech 3" Charge Pipe

What I still plan to buy before the rebuild:

Engine Gasket kit (OEM)
Water pump (OEM)
Thermostat (OEM)
Timing chain kit (OEM)
RevUp Oil Pump (OEM)
JWT Heavy Duty Valve Springs & Shim Kit
Ferrea Bronze Valve Guide Set, Stock Size
Rear Main Seal and Retainer Plate (OEM)

That's enough from me for now. Cheers!

Nice! If you plan on rebuilding it, go ahead and upgrade the blower, and spin it faster for more boost with upgraded cog pulley and a larger crankshaft pulley like ATI or Fluidampr. I wouldn't go that low of compression, maybe 9.5.1, stock or higher. 8.8 is more for big boost turbos. Good luck when the time comes.

Glad to help you!

IMO, go to at least 10.3:1 CR (stock), but also depends on you Cam Selection.

It's all about ATI's

For every 5.5*f increase in ATI's you loose about 1% Hp, On a Hot Summer Day of 90-95*f with Dew Points in the 70* range my ATI's are 8-10*f above Ambient consistently with the TR-1245. This is WOT 1/4 mile run thru the traps....

For my setup please see my sign.

I was averaging 30*f over the ambient temperature under boost with the small intercooler that came with the Vortech kit... which I believe is a Spearco. Based on your calculation, that's a decent increase.

Lol I was getting 45+ over ambient after going wot to the top of 4th gear this last summer with my eBay special intercooler, which sadly gained me more power than the stock intercooler from the kit. That's why I run water meth.

Update...

A few months back my SC began making a noise. As time passed, the noise increased, sort of like swirling marbles in a tin can. To localize the noise I pulled off the cog belt and started the car...and the noise was gone. I store my car during the winter here in Rhode Island, so I decided a couple weeks ago that it was good time to send it to Vortech for a refresh. I dealt with Jamie from Vortech and so far their customer service has been great. I just heard back from him today and he informed me that my SC was definitely in need of bearings. They're replacing the bearings and seals (minor rebuild) for $390. I should have the SC back next week. The old bearings lasted me 3 years and about 30K miles.

Why not upgrade the blower impeller while you have it there?

Good question! I thought about it and I'm still thinking about it I didn't want to visit my tuner again until the block is built and the pieces are in place. I was hoping to get some more time out of the car the way it is. This will give me time to get the other parts along with saving money for install, machine shop, and tuner costs.

Update...

Since my car is in the shop I'm having my clutch and flywheel installed. I picked the kit up from Joe at ZSpeed. Joe is very knowledgeable on driveline components for our platform and he provides good customer service. Also, unlike other venders, he tests components out on his car first so he can offer practical insite beyond the manufactures specifications.
