Default gf is buying a G and I need advise

howdy fellas. So my gf is officially in search of a G . I have a couple of questions if anyone knows the answers. Like what years to stay away from, have a tendency to burn oil, have more transmission problems, etc. Also what are the trim options. Unlike the Z it appears it only has two??? Is this right?

since most problems for the different years of the z's was mechanical, i would assume that it would be the same for the G's.

I never had a wife or girlfriend who paid attention to my car buying advise. Neither will yours.

I don't think anyone knows because NO ONE has asked this question before. Not ONE!!!

Keyword is "reliability" (keyword in title) and there are over 87 threads related to model year, bolt-on mods, and FI setups.

word.

me: "you have to be willing to walk away from this deal. there's hundreds of others out there just like this one in this exact configuration. you need to not show excitement or too much interest or the salesman is going to walk all over you. if you're sure you like this one, lets offer 3k less then their asking price and stay firm, I am confident we can get that deal elsewhere if not"

her: "this ones blue and has the spoiler OMG I LOVE IT!! I must have it."

dealer: "lol not budging from asking price!"

/slitswrists

research all you want. she's going to buy the first one that emotionally appeals to her. LOL

lol wow you been on the forums and you dont know the basic stuff like that? 03 tire feathering and stuff 04 and 05 seem to be good years as well as 07 and 08 except for csc issues in the trans but she not drag racing. One thing about the G35 that the 07 year models didnt get the HR motor till about half way threw the year if i remember correctly. A simple search would of givin you this answer :0). but sense everyone likes to respeat what someone says i thought ill just be nice and give the answer. and sorry for me giving you the answer pic of GF

O, and P.s 06 rev up engines have oil consumption problems :0)

I loved my 04' with Brembos and sunroof, but the newer ones are quite nice also (sans Brembos).

Thanks guys! You helped me out. Yes yes I searched, but it was mostly about Z's or specific years of the G, and yes I did know all of this, but I'm not familiar with the differences in problems between the two. Although there seem to be very few differences, but I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything that I wasn't aware of. Better to annoy a few ppl with restated questions than to make a bad purchase I always say...

edit: Oh and my girl, believe it or not knows that my car knowledge far out exceeds her own so she is literally leaving the entire thing up to me. All she told me was the color, trany, miles to stay under, and her price limit haha. As you can imagine I'm having a good time with it.

REVUP's also came in the 05 6MT's so they will have the OC issue too.

Let let the rev-up hype deter you, especially if you find a clean one that is still under the 5yr/60k (from initial registration date) warranty.

G35 reliability is above average. “Best year” depends on rear or all wheel drive.

Seems obvious but not true. G35 owners report significant less problems than 350Z owners. My educated guess is that the average 350Z driver pushes the car harder. More stress - more breaking stuff.
