Default MREV2 Independent Dyno Tested on Bone Stock 287HP Motor (Wired 24/7's 05 Touring)

Here are the dynos.

I will let the dynos speak for themselves, except a couple of notes:

notice how the very best baseline still does not compare to even the very worst modded dyno. Bottom line is, this is a kick-*** mod for the money. Guaranteed horsepower and you can really feel it

Edit: THE AIR/FUEL READS 1.0 POINTS TOO LEAN! The motor is NOT at 15 AFR, it hits a peak of 14 AFR.

Edit: More notes:
  • All dyno runs were done on 91 octane. (California's finest)
  • All runs were done on the same tank of gas and at the same engine coolant temperature.
  • Mods were installed without removing the car from the dyno.

Edit: 4 Months later, here are some Air/Fuel and timing curves for you to examine (created using cipher from AAM)

As you can see, the car still needs a tune to get it in the optimal AFR range. The stock ECU is not capable of fully adjusting to these mods.

P.S. The title where it says "Matt R 350z HKS SC" is incorrect, I already got a PM about that The computer has some kind of glitch with creating titles of the charts. Even though my dyno was done first, Matt (Z BOY's) dyno was PRINTED first. Just ignore the title...

did u turn on the AC before starting the dyno or was this with only the outside fans blowing?

The dyno operator played with the A/C (turning it on then off) before each run. There were also fans blowing... BIG fans. He revved the engine to control coolant temps as well...

He did a very good job of monitoring / controlling coolant temps to make every run identical testing conditions. I'm told that these are some of the best dyno operators around.

Everything from engine vacuum to coolant temps and more was being constantly monitored.

wow...it seems the m-rev+5/16" spacer is the way to go...

lemme get this straight...you put the MREV collector for the REVUP motor on a 287hp motor with the 5/16th spacer?

Well true, this combination makes good gains. But wait until I get my hands on the dynos of Baseline versus MREV V2 with no spacer.

The spacer actually does help, but only a little, because the flow of MREV V2 is already that much better than stock.

The truth of the matter is that once I put the spacer on, the ECU pulled timing to avoid knock. If you have access to something better than 91 octane then you will make better power from this mod because the ECU will not pull timing.

I put in 8 gallons of 100 octane this weekend and it feels GREAT

Note: 8 gallons of 100 octane + 12 gallons of 91 octane = 94.6 octane. Nothing too extreme...

If you have engine management, you will also make much better power from this mod. Where the A/F curve hits 15 (which means "actual" AFR is 14) you can make better power by getting more fuel into the engine. So a tune could help out a lot.

Just some stuff to think about.

No! It's a MREV Version2

The original MREV collector was exactly the same thing as a 287 lower collector.

The MREV Version 2 is a modified MREV (Modified 287 lower collector)

MREV = 287 hp motor's collector
MREV+ = 287 hp motor's collector with some modification
MREV V2 = MREV+ with additional modification

So the MREV V2 is basically just the stock collector with modifications done to it.

We tested
(1) Baseline
(2) MREV V2
(3) MREV V2 + 5/16" spacer

I only posted dyno's of (1) and (3) so far, but I will get dynos of (1) and (2) side by side.

wait...did you put 100 octane to get those #s? what ocatane gas did you use? i live in l.a. so i can only get 91.

I would guess "no" but it's hard to tell. As we all know the ECU is a magical black box that only a handful of people have figured out (namely Technosquare).

I think to get the most out of this mod you really need engine management and a tune on a dyno. I doubt it would make a ton more peak HP but you would get a lot more area under the curve with a good tune. Just my educated guess.
