Default Maf question...

I have a pop charger...if I got some of the oil on the maf would it cause any sort of power loss/hesitation/bogging? Just want a straight forward answer lol

Is it possible to foul the MAF sensor and if so could it cause problems? Yes.

yes, it will.

dirty maf=crappy performance.

get some CRC MAF cleaner from napa and use it as the directions say. Cleans like a charm.

Ok...thing is I replaced the maf sensor already. Its at the dealer atm for other stuff too. They said the oil on there will make the a/f ratio go wacky...is that true?

Well hell...are there any dry filter intakes out there? Cuz that's what's causing this then...they said I'm getting oil on there and there is no traces of engine oil there...(I have a pop charger atm with a k&n filter cuz the original was stolen..) Or should I just go back to my stock airbow or an intake with a longer tube to kinda avoid this happening again. Its gonna be hard to not have the sound associated with the popcharger lol...its intoxicating

google how a maf works get an understanding of its purpose and how it functions. If you don't know how it works then how will you know if any of these answers are correct. I could tell you that oil on it makes it work better and not corrode in area's of salty air, it sounds somewhat reasonable and some people would believe it but its total bs.

LOL. It’s a legitimate question. Google MAF and see how it works. Simple operation but a very important sensor.

Trust me...I know mafs lol ...went through 3 on my spec V (at 400 a piece) so I learned how they worked. But this is new to me that's why I'm asking. Had the popcharger for around 70000 miles and only had issues for the past 10000 or so and was finally told its oil on the maf..!ut I've never had the issue before.

You could type in google " OIL ON MAF SENSOR" Yes it will fck up the sensor. I use a oiled filter but you don't oil it like a kid on the shortbus. You mist the oil on it. The you let it drain out of the filter overnight. Never had a problem. If you had googled, and read the proper way to oil your filter you wouldn't be having this problem. lern 2 serch teh internets k.

Google results for OIL ON MAF SENSOR
Results 1 - 10 of about 187,000 for OIL ON MAF SENSOR. (0.38 seconds)
Search Results
OMG 187k pages.

Listen ...I know how to oil a filter. Notice I didn't ask "how do I oil my filter?" If I needed to know that I would have asked. This is not my first car and not the first I modded. Now...go away. You annoy me.

ya, you have to oil lightly.

oil on a maf will not allow it to see a "true" air charge. It's a substance COVERING a sensor. Obviously it will obstruct it.

what problems are you having with your car? MAF cleaner is about 6$ for a can. It took me 10 minutes to pull mine out and clean it, then install it. Huge difference on my rough idle.

They get dirty, it's a fact of life.
