Default Test pipe, Hi-flow cats, or muffler delete?

I was looking for a cheaper way to make my 350z louder(currently in college) and saw people talking about test pipes, hi-flow cats, and muffler deletes. I don't want something overly loud or a honda fart cannon. What modification will still keep the VQ engine sound?

Muffler delete works well. I've had it for 5 years. Just put a resonated XYZ pipe on to calm the rasp down. Almost silent at idle and only gets loud when you want it to.

F the haterz. Drink beers.

Get a cat back or test pipes, or both lol.

Why want it louder? Why not look for it on the performance aspect... If you want it loud, just take off everything past the cat, or the headers... That'll be loud...

Making it "loud" is doing exactly what you claim to not want to do, its going to sound like a Honda dart can most likely.. do research and find something that's going to do something positive. Loud is rice.. buy some good quality test pipes and avoid the rice.

I have a muffler delete and resonated xyz pipe. It is nice and smooth, deep sounding and still loud enough to hear. I dont use a tach, I drive by sound.

Every other 350Z I see in the area is either stock or sounds ricey as hell compared to mine and everyone asks what I have.

I have$350 total in my exhaust. You guys spend $1000+. Mine sounds just as good and with what I have I can keep within a car length of HR's. Good enough for my 113k mile car.

Currently I have Motordyne Plenum 5/16 spacer and a JWT popcharger. I just recently got it in the summer and I'm trying to mod it during the winter since it's in storage.

not knocking the muffler delete but you are still just a single exhaust, why not change it up to be a true dual?

Because that costs money. And if you put an X pipe in it you're not true dual anymore.

My $350 exhaust works great for a daily driver. If I were to use it as a track car or something like that I would probably do something different.

And if I had the money that some of you have I would have FI.

I have next to no money, and I bought a true dual from a member here, and he was such a cool guy he threw in some invidia test pipes for free. Sure, it took me almost a year to get full boltons minus headers, but point is I'm broke, and I did it.and for $350 you honestly could have bought a true dual from someone on here, not trying to down you or anything, some single exits look good. But the best dual Ive seen was a straight pipe out the middle of the back, it looked sick and it was TTd have yet to see it again though, but that thing was awesome looking, with the way they cut the bumper around the exhaust it looked truly awesome.

That $350 is for a muffler delete with dual exit so it looks like stock from the outisde and a Motordyne resonated XYZ pipe to tone down the rasp. It's nice and smooth, deeper and a little louder than stock. Most all of the other exhaust I've heard either sound like *** or cost $1000+

N.Y.S. released water from one of their reservoirs during one of those HUGE storms. When I woke up the car was completely under water to a point where you couldn't even see the roof. It was totaled but since it was a record holder and a car I liked very much, I decided to buy it from the insurance company before they auctioned it off.

Even though I had to re-wire much of the car and replace a few things plus it was murder cleaning it up. Too much for me so I paid for everything.

What made it a good deal for me was that they offered me/appraised the car for almost as much as I paid for it 2 years before. That salvaged car cost me 6k to buy and a few grand to fix. So where is this going ????

The muffler had much sand in it so I just removed it.

Without the muffler and leaving that single stock exhaust pipe on. I had stock intakes, engine, stock headers into test pipes going to the stock Y pipe, going into & through that stock single exhaust pipe.

My first time at the drag strip in this form was at the 2012 North East Atco Nissan/Infinity meet. Advertised as bring the quickest cars and many people and some top shops brought their cars.

The quickest cars were of course the GT-R's. Awesome times. Many classes and I was in the N/A 350z/370z & Infinity class. Since it was N/A street driven cars, it was the biggest class which by the way I won without much effort, NO MUFFLER

Later on without the muffler and a change of gears from 3:90's to 4:08's I set my last HR N/A record of 12.419..... Car is now gone! totaled again
