Exhaust Ideas
Hey everyone, so I have an 03 touring and it is 100% stock and ive had it for about 9 months. I want to have it sound sexier but dont want to drop the money on a full exhaust system right now. So I thought maybe I can just pick up some good quality mufflers for now (I know there will be no performance boost) and perhaps get the rest of the exhaust system at another point which will fit with the new mufflers I will already have on the car. Any ideas on mufflers that sound good and are a part of a full exhaust system?
-Thanks!

Agreed on buying a used exhaust. You'll save money, but will avoid the problems of putting together a mismatched system. My Stillen TD sounds great, but doesn't drone on at highway speeeds.

I have a flowmaster series 80 on my z. I love the sound, its a more open note of the stock, and the sound at 4k is perfect, doesn't drone at all and was a cheap mod. Spend like 75 dollars total, 30 dollars to buy it off a forum member then 50 to get the one of the tips refitted to be at the right angle. Doubt you will find one already made custom like mine but you might get lucky.

I'm in California so Im kind of limited too on how much fun I can have :P I've never heard of the TDX v2, I'll look into that and see what it sounds like. I love the stock gargle that my z has so if I can get that but louder and meaner id be happy.

2200$ for an exhaust is idiocy... I spent 300$ on a used injen cat back and 50$ for a Mangaflow xpipe to swap out injen resonators it sounds just as good if not better then motordyne....
The guy that said flowmaster... Hell no that has baffled chambers and decreases flow... By a straight through muffler like magnaflow for best performance... The catback on these cars give minimal if not any gains your just paying for sound and looks and in motordyne case the name... The HP gains are in the cats...
For 2200$ save up another 1000$ and buy a used supercharger kit....

I suppose I will save up and just get a used full exhaust system. When buying off of craigslist or even on this site, what are some things to look for? (Rust, dents, etc) Also, how long and difficult is it to install a new exhaust system?

if you are going to spend that much on an exhaust buy real performance instead like a supercharger. if you want deep just say **** it and remove it after the y pipe haha
but in all seriousness i would research and find a few that you like and then just keep your eye out.

Now add build time/cost, and additional maintenance. You're in for way more than the cost of MD TDX2.
But hey, dream on.
