whistling noise while cold
someone please direct me to a previous topic on this. my 04 roadster makes a horrible whistle when cold, overnight not a temperature cold.. it is almost like a radio ground noise that is variable in noise getting louder with speed increase/decrease. after maybe 3 miles the noise dissappears. have not taken to dealer yet...figured that it will not do this when they check it out...and also hoped someone here knew of this problem...any help will be greatly appreciated.

Mine does the same thing. Only when its cold, its more like a high pitch tone. Then it goes away when the car is warmed up. Its a 2006 Enth with 22k miles. I do have an JWT flywheel and Nismo clutch.....could that be it?

I have an 06 base,,stock,,9k miles,,and my Z has made this (hairdryer type sound) when its cold, since I bought the car new. The sound increases/decreases with speek for a few miles until things are warmed up. I always thought it might be the speedometer cable or something? It is annoying,,thank goodness mine goes away after a few miles.

Mine does this too. It sounds more like when you blow on a beer bottle to make it whistle. It only does it for a few seconds when its cold and fluctuates with speed, so im thinkin its related to wind passing over something or thru something.
Might have a fitting/opening or soemthing that contracts/expands as the car heats up and the noise goes away. i'm guessing it has to do with the intake. I have a poop charger, so maybe that has something to do with it. i havent worried about it since it goes away pretty quick.

Not sure if this is the same problem you describe…
I hear the same sound (whistle) after replacing my transmission. I have a ’03 Performance model that exhibited the grinding/synchromesh problem. Nissan replaced my transmission. The new one is much better in every way, but “whistles” when it’s cold. The noise isn’t always there; but, when it is, it goes away after 4 or 5 minutes of driving.

I've got the same problem that just showed up yesterday after the temp dipped down into the 30's. From what I've found its related to the trans/flywheel/clutch. Anyone get feedback from the dealer? 52k miles here.
