Vo - Thanks a ton for posting this. Saved me 400 bucks that the dealer quoted for a new window motor!

VO, thanks a ton man!!!!! Just did mine as well.

My window was down last night when the skies opened up and I couldn't roll the passenger side window up. The inside of my car is soaked.

I followed your instructions here, except obviously my window was in the down position. It was easy getting it apart, but I had to roll the window up a little bit in order to lift up on it to get the track to line up with the panel when reassembling.

Great job, vo7848. this DIY save many Z members so much money, I am one of them, just did that today. $200 for part, and 1 to 2 hours worth of labor, freak that, by following this DIY and clear the dirt off the motor, then save me around $300, this is the $#!+.

im one of the few whose problem wasn't fixed by doing this. when i push up or down on the window button, nothing happens, and when i let go i hear a "click" coming from the passenger's side window control in the armrest. has anyone else had this problem? is my motor shot?

Will brake cleaner work instead of that electronics cleaner? I'm thinking it will, and that will save me a trip to the store... Anyone experienced with this?

after having this not work i thought it might have been due to the fact that i did not clean the part thorough enough. so today i sanded it and cleaned it with a needle. it looked much different than the first time i cleaned it. but i ended up with the same results. so its time to get a new one i guess. is autozone the best place to pick one up, or does anyone have anywhere better?

^ advance auto cost $10 less and in my area they could get them in 3-days.

THANKS OP, this "fix" worked out great!!

And to Izzeing... Your suggestion were spot on, except for the jewelers screw driver on the back of the carbon contact. I popped one of the contacts out and it was insane trying to put it back in... those contacts will crumble under any type of pressure, just a warning to others. I suggest the steps you mentioned, but pushing on the back of the actual spring is better. It will also prevent you from pushing the contact out of the motor casing.

I'll post pics soon... I just set the inner metal panel on my rocker and against my seat while I worked on things. I also removed the motor completly from the door, its easy to do.

My passenger motor went out again. I ordered a refurbished one from Autozone and got cracking on it today. Installed everything and went for the test. The window rolled down then died. It sounded like crap. I banged it a few times and it unrelentesly moved a few inches before totally stopping. Dammit.

I opened up the refurb motor and one of the brushes is completely stuck inside. While I was at it I went ahead and opened up my old motor again. Have it some more cleaning and then attached it to the power. Viola. The old one sounded new again. I didn't install it back yet as I want to see if I can get a new one from Autozone for my troubles.

It sounds like no matter what, this is only a temporary fix. Replace OR clean.....its gonna fail again . Does anyone know if a window motor from another Nissan product would work (and not just for a short time) ???

Yes, the cleaning was a temp fix. I ended up replacing it with a refurbished one from Advanced Auto Parts. It's been awhile now. It still works great...

*sigh*
After cleaning it once, the window worked for awhile until it completely crapped out on me. Must be something with the brushes.
