i just noticed tonight when i was coming home that my battery light was flickering. when i would idle it would go away then i would drive and it would flicker again. i just put in a new battery last year. i don't know if it has to do with the gauges and haltech i just put in. just looking for some ideas on why it would be doing this

Default Brake & Battery Light

I'm a newbie but when I purchased the car last week I subsequently noticed there were no interior lights coming on. I read somewhere that if you disconnect the neg battery cable and wait a few minutes then put it back it resets one of the computers. Well I did that and all the lights worked. HOWEVER then I noticed the Brake and Battery light came on and stayed on. I knew both were checked by the Dealer prior to my purchase from a private party and that was not the problem. Checked all fuses by drivers leg and all ok. Then checked the fuse box under the hood and found the ALT fuse was bad. Replaced it and both lights came on. Note: The alternator was/is functioning as it reads 12 volts with ingition on and approx 14-15 with engine running. I guess the Alt fuse isn't just for the alternator. Hope this helps.

so you replaced the fuse and the lights still stayed on? or did you mean you replaced the fuse and the lights came off? I have the same problem except when im driving both the battery light and park light flicker.

Replaced Alt fuse under hood and brake and battery light went off. Everything is working fine now.

The ALT fuse under the hood protects the circuit that provides a reference voltage to the voltage regulator built into the alternator. If the fuse is open the alternator may still provide charging voltage, but the voltage regulator may not work properly. The Charging warning light will come on.

If you check the di (Driver Information System) section of the Service Manual, you will see that the BRAKE warning light comes on any time the Charging light is on. You can check this the next time you start your car. Turn the ignition on but don't start the car, and release the parking brake. The BRAKE light should still be on.
