Default 30,000 mile service and brake pads..

Hey guys, I'm going in for the 30k service on my 04 Z in a couple of days. Dealership is charging me 480 plus tax. Sucks but I really don't know **** about repairing cars and feel strongly that this is something that I need to have done. I read through the owners manual and noticed that they inspect the breaks but the cost to replace pads isnt included in the price. Ive never changed mine and hear quite a bit of squeaking(although it is on/off again) lately.. any ideas what these guys are going to charge if they need replaced? And how often do pads typically last (normal driving habits)? Thanks.

If you are uncertain about routine maintenance and inspections. have it done by the dealer or trusted mechanic. When you become more familiar with the Z you can do more yourself.

OEM parts are expensive. There are aftermarket parts of equal quality for less money.

Yeah like I said, Im taking it into the dealership. Any idea on how much theyll charge for pads if I need them? (and labor to put them on?) How long do pads normally last for someone with relatively normal driving habits?

I think I had been quote about $150 for new front pads and hardware (hardware kit needed ended up being the same price as the damn pads). i went with HAWK HPS pads instead. MY OEM front pads I have 32k on the clock and could probably get another thousand or so miles out of them.

Before you pay for the full 30K service - go over what gets done with the service rep. I was able to get my 30K for about $250 by removing unnecessary things.

Okay yeah, I might try this. I don't know how often the air filter needs to be changed, but I really don't think I need that and I know I dont need wipers. Thanks.

Thing here is, I just got back from Iraq, so my car has just been sitting in a warehouse of sorts for about a year. I have the money and Im going on about a 5000 mile road trip, so that along with the fact that I really don't know what Im doing when it comes to repair/maintenance is the reason Im doing this through the dealer. I appreciate yalls input.

+1 Cabin filter (Z's arent equiped), tire rotation(cant rotate stock Z tires due to their directional setup) and some other things like air filter if you have after market intake.
