A few days ago, when I twisted the key to turn the car on, it would not start as if it had a completely dead battery. Problem was, that my lights, radio, and windows worked just fine other than the car not starting. After screwing around a bit (taking key out, stepping on gas, different gear, etc) it turned on.
This has been happening more frequently each time I get in my car, and today as I was leaving work my car would not start for a good minute. I was about to get out and ask a coworker for a ride, when it finally started. I want to take the car in ASAP to have it fixed, but I'd like to know what could be causing this problem.
Can you explain how it could be the key? Some sort of security feature? Why would it all of a sudden start crapping out after working fine for several years?
