I know all new cars are given the instant on ingnitions now. like u turn the key and let go in half a second the car starts. i have to turn the key for about 1-2 seconds to start it. My freind has an 05 E55 u can basically just turn the key and let go car starts right up. Is something wrong with my Z?

What he meant is that on new cars all you have to do is flip the key like you're starting it but instead of keeping the key turned until the engine starts, you let go. It automatically cranks the engine for you. New Chevrolets have this and I wish my Z had it too.
So to answer your question - no there is nothing wrong with your Z.
I have an 03 and when I turn mine for just a few seconds it fires up. It has a slight struggle to start when I do it that way but prob from fuel not being completely primed and turned on.
