Ive owned my z for almost 2 years now and consider myself a pretty good manual transmission driver. However lately @ high rpm's shifting into second gear is getting tough! i have to consciously wait for the clutch to engage otherwise it will grind the gear.... usually only at high rpm's. Someone said i need a cable tightened? anyone have any ideas??
Im not a mechanic, but I dont believe that Nissan has used a cable clutch since the early 80's. The clutch engagement is hydraulic. Im not exactly keen on how to adjust that at all. I will tell you that its sounds more like a synchro problem in the transmission though. If it was the clutch it would more than likely do it on all the gears and not just one.
I though this was an issue with the 2003-2004 models? Same issue here, but only when it's cold. Was told to change out the tranny fluid to a better fluid, Redline.
Yea ive read where a lot of Z's might have this problem, but im taking it into the stealership to see what they say about it. If they wont do anything then ill try changing the fluids. And now that i think about it, the hydralic clutch makes a lot more sense than a cable...lol.
Just a side note: I rode in my friends cayman S last night, he ripped through those gears like he had an F1 supercar transmission. Shift times were unbelievable. I guess thats why you pay 20-30k more for a porsche.

$20-30k more and would expect a toliet seat on a driver seat. And it better have a waterfountain to wash my as$ after I'm done taking a craper... jk.
