Driveshaft Vibration!!!
After a few weeks of owning my car and beating on it pretty hard I've noticed a vibration from the drive shaft when decelerating, usually vib's for a sec. at 4k and 3k.
I know on bimmers you have the guido and rear diff. mounts that can go and cause a similar vibration.
Anyone know what can of prob's Z's have?

tire balance would be a lot different and would be speed related not rpm.
i know it is the drive shaft vibrating but i'm wondering if it is just rear diff. mounts that i have to change, maybe get some solid mounts? I have read that the mounts are an issue w/ track use.

wow if anyone else has any incite with this issue that would be great, I'm having the same issue. The driveshaft vibrates for no more then 2 or 3 seconds, and then it goes away. The problem is that it is really inconsistent, so it seems like it'd be tough to diagnose at the dealer.

finally got a chance to get the service record of my car.
The guy who owned it before the car serviced for "rear drive shaft noise."
Parts Replaced:
1) joint assy outer
2) bolt
3) nut
4) spring washer
5) cotter pin
the vibration got to be so bad it killed the fuel pump. It was replaced but under a different claim, same mileage.

Transmission is Busted!!!
The dealer is replacing the transmission in a couple weeks.
What is a good clutch/flywheel setup for 450-500whp and track use? Does any kits come with throwout bearing and slave cylinder?

I think it is going to be either one of the drive axle on the rear wheel or both! Check that it usually vibrate when you going around 70-80 km/h and the car shake really crazy but pass that range or before it is not shaking that crazy!

I had this problem, and figured the only thing capable of vibrating so bad would be a failing dual-mass flywheel. I replaced my OEM flywheel, and this vibration when decelerating went away. It was not a driveshaft issue.
I hope this helps others out there looking for the source of the problem.
The other source of random vibration that is not related to deceleration, and if you find you've definitely had your wheels balanced, is to check your compression rod/radius rod bushings. That was the other source of my random vibrations that weren't related to the drivetrain.

Everyone who's having this problem, take a look at your diff mounts! The front mounts can be worn to have slack in them vertically, or the rear mount could be popped, allowing the black silicone filling to drain out. If your diff mounts are going bad, the diff will nose down hard when you suddenly (or not so suddenly) let off the gas. Mine would rumble on decel from 4k down to about 2500, especially after hard acceleration. Letting off the gas changes the angle of the U-joint where the driveshaft attaches to the pinion yoke. The change is enough to cause a vibration that appears on decel and will go away with a quick whack of the gas pedal. My car did this for months until I put in the SPL solid diff bushings last weekend. Now I have zero vibration. The SPL's added no vibration or interior noise to my car. Also my friend's HR Z has the full Whiteline diff bushing kit and it feels no different than good stock bushings. I hope this helps you guys.
