knock sensor
jb:
I had the unfortunate experience of my Z die on my way into work (i.e was running find, then just stopped). After waiting a few minutes I was able to re-start my Z. It ran terribly (in limp mode) back to the dealership located approx. 5 miles away. The dealership replaced the crank position sensor under warranty.

Does your sensor and harness look the same as mine? I'm going to trace down the other end tonight and see where it goes. The Infiniti dealership said that the G knock sensor harness included all the wiring to the injectors... That's supposedly why it costs over $800.
I'll send you a PM.
Missed you at the go cart races yesterday... We could have used your skills...

Yep, if they're the same, I'm going to take him up on his offer...
It looked like I needed to remove the injector rails to get to the lower intake manifold bolts. The FSM recommended to remove them, so I did.
First time I've taken the lower intake off... Thanks for the heads up Andrew.

yeah i know, i was pointing out, for 80 bucks JPE22 got all of that so i don't see why the g35 wants 800 dollars. that must be with the injectors but i would think it would be sold seperately.

Thanks, Matt. Maybe we can all meet up for lunch at Quaker Steak & Lube before HIN and get something to eat, my treat. Might not work if you are showing your V. Anyway, I sure appreciate all your help and the offer of the knock sensor and harness.

I think I see what's happening. It looks like JPE22 got a tremendous deal on the entire injector/knock harness for $80. I have a feeling that Lokey could have gotten the single harness cheaper, but they just couldn't find the right part number. I would have really been aggrivated if I spent $800+ and didn't even get the right cable.

I think I found my problem.
I tried to follow the knock sensor harness to see where it connects to the main harness. I had trouble seeing the end of the cable after it went out the back of the engine, so I jiggled the harness a bit. The harness wouldn't budge. It turns out that the harness is jammed between the back of the engine block and the transmission's bell housing.
I don't know if that shorted out the knock sensor wires, but it sure isn't doing the harness any favors. It's really wedged in there. I don't imagine it is doing my transmission alignment any good either.
I had my transmission replaced under warranty at the dealership right before I started having this problem. I never in a million years would have connected the knock sensor issue with having the transmission replaced.
