you have osiris which can turn off nats...... no need for a consult 2 to rewrite ****. even better then that even with nats enabled with pro efi or haltech it dosnt even care the aftermarket ems will continue to let everything run. the sad thing is for $1900 you could have gotten a used haltech for cheaper.
The car has to go to the dealer.I do not have access to a consult II, I am sure you do not have one laying around your house either.
Last time this happend we went through the harness and grounds. No relays or fuses pop when this happens. The ecu getting hot seems like a short but I would also expect blown fuses.
I have a spare junkyard ecu that the dealer told me was fried last time along with the stock one. Do not turn this int retard comments over taking it to the dealer. That is the only way to reset the NATS and write the vin to the ecu along with programming keys. It just that they like to charge for parts not needed. Reason people call it the stealership...

Here is a diagram of how the NATS system works.
As you can see the NATS system has everything to do with it. The link to the ECU has been cut somehow between the BCM AND THE ECU. This is what happened last time. The tech couldn't see the ECU with consult and neither could I. They charged 1200$ for a new ecu. The car started and ran, after this I was able to see the old "dead" ecu and the junkyard one through Osiris. I had them rewrite the vin to the "DEAD" ECU, and I drove the car on it, until I figured out I had a bad injector driver on one cylinder.
What I am trying to figure out is how to re enable it without paying for another new ecu.

I have a 2004 G35 Sedan that the same thing happened to 3 weeks ago. It started misfiring and by the time I got pulled over it had stalled and was in CAN Failure with the fans running at all times. Just starting to look into the issue today.
Other than a double din radio all wiring under the dash is untouched.
The car is flashed with uprev.
Let you know if I find anything related to the issue.

Hey rocks, what did you end up doing? I would have probably just went standalone and replaced all wiring and harnesses related to the ecu. Afterwords inspected all the old wiring and harnesses. Just what i would have done.
