Default Shifter sitting extremely low. Broken tramission mount?

Whatsup guys, i'm about to buy a Z as a winter project. I am wondering why the shifter is so low picture below, I know thats not a SSK. .Or is it Maybe someone can offer some insight about this problem, i was thinking it could be a transmission mount. Has this happened to anyone around here? The car is hit fairly hard, frame is straight. Thanks, any insight would be appreciated

Thanks guys

Well a failed OEM bushing would not allow the shifter to drop that low.

The fact its centered, I'm guessing the transmission isn't supported and is just hanging.

Why don't you look under the car and see for your self?

Just install a longer shifter!
No,just kidding.
The shifter is sitting so low I'm surprised its not on the ground.
Obviously,just hanging there.

As for pics the front end is pretty f*cked up.

That damn plastic cover is blocking the intake plenum so I can't quite tell if the motor mounts broke and the engine is pushed back. I was trying to judge where the strut bar goes across the intake plenum, but I can't really see ****.

I'm no Z expert, but judging where the oil filler cap SHOULD be, looks like the engine is pushed back, correct me if i'm wrong.

The actual car, yes it's an insurance auction..

It's a 03, both front airbags blown, the frame horns may need pulling as the bumper support is damaged..

I'm thinking I should walk away from this, looks like the engine is pushed back into the firewall, judging from other Z's.

This Z has a pretty significant gap between the I/M and the firewall.

RUN!

Why would you even want to bother with rebuilding that?

That car is so messed up.

Possible theory, transmission crossmember support thing broke tilting the shifter way down and also tilting the engine back. I'm trying to look at this on the bright side, airbags for the 350Z also aren't cheap. Car is selling tomorrow, i'll try to get into it for cheap. BTW, the car has 105k miles on it.

Engine is almost a foot back from where it should be. shifter linkage is probably severed and the stick is just holding on by the boot. You sir, have big bawls if you plan on fixing this.

On to the next one. High risk. Low reward with this Z but there is always potential if your crafty with the tools and plan to turn this into the next big DIY project. Good luck OP!
