I am having a similar problem. I was told that I would need to replace the whole seat frame. I don't buy this.

Try some electronic parts cleaner on the switch.

^There you go. The replacement switches are pricey, but SUPER easy
should the parts cleaner not acheive desired results.

Default Tepermental power driver's seat

I have had the same problem in my 03 Touring model. It seems the drivers seat will move back and also tilt back but will not move foward or tilt forward. Now that I have been screwing with it for a couple hours, it is all the way back and tilted nearly all the way. I tested power to the motor with the switches in both positions and found it to be fine. At this point I'm pretty sure its just the motors crapping out on me. This brings me to my question for anyone who can help. Is there any way to manually move the power seat forward to gain access to all the seat bolts so I can remove the seat and replace the motors??? This would be a ton of help considering my arms only reach so far, lol.

Thanks for the input, but come to find out the motors are shot. Dealer wants to charge $720 for all new motors and seat rails, I think I'll be looking for parts off a salvage.

I still would like to know if anyone knows of a way to move the seat manually for the time being?

Damn stealerships to the FAIL again, not understanding why you need to get new seat rails. I was having some problems last week and the motors look like maybe 5 mins each to install when the seats are out of the Z.

No way I know of to move the seats forward manually, are you able to jumper the motor to get to the bolts on the rear of the seat??

Good luck

i haven't tried to jump the motor, but i know there is power to them and that the switches both work. If this is the case, I don't even think a straight 12 volts to them will do anything. I think I may just have to somehow get the motor dis-engaged from the track and move the seat forward to get access to the rear bolts, but I am assuming that the only way to get the motors loose in the first place is to take the seat out. Kind of a closed loop in this case, thats why i need someway to move the seat forward manually, hopefully without man handling any parts and possibly breaking them. Any ideas?

Best bang for the $$$, before you have to pull the motor & clean the brushes.

I'll try the cleaner, but I don't think it's supposed to be used on wound motors due to the fact that it may eat throught the insulation of the motor windings. Has anyone tried directly cleaning the rotor and brushes with this stuff and if so, did it work at all?

My driver seat is doing this too but I have an extended warranty I can use. I personally hate power seats, i'd prefer manual but I don't mind the bum warmers. Do they make 350Z seats with the heaters but no power movement?

I'm wondering if I should just replace the seats myself with some non power operated ones or get it replaced under warranty.

I have the same problem, seat will slide back and recline both ways, but will not slide forward. When I got my bumper repainted they had moved my seat all the way back. I brough it to their attention that I could not reach the pedals anymore (and had asked them nicely ahead of time not to move the seat). They then took it around back and "jumped" the motor/switch and had it moved all the way forward for me... I'm not exactly sure what they did to it, but it was possible (try asking a local shop if they can "jump" the motor/switch). It did not fix the problem, but it's at least driveable again.
