another Throttlebody cleaning and CEL Thread
Hi all.
I recently cleaned my throttlebody with CRC TB cleaner.
Yes I moved butterfly valve with my hand.
Sprayed cleaner directly to the valve and body.
When I took TB off from the engine, I didn't disconnect the negative battery terminal. ( didn't have the new gasket so I just used the old one)
After I put everything back, idle was way high and it won't settle down below 1100~1200 rpm.
I did try ECU reset, pedeal, valve closed potition, idle air volume relearning using technosquare instruction.
It never worked. It only bring down to 900 rpm. I tried ECU reset with gas pedal method, disconnecting battery and hitting brakes method.
It never worked no matter what I did. After the relearn, if I restart the car, it will come back to high idle like it doesn't remember the setting.
So, after searching numerous thread here and other nissan related forums, I decided to take it to the dealer this morning.
But last night, I gave last try by disconnecting negative battery for about 8hrs. (and I took off the popcharger and put stock intake box back, cleaned MAF with CRC MAF cleaner)
This morning, I connected the battery terminal back, and did accel pedal position relearn, valve closed position, and started the car to warm it up to normal temperature so that I can perform idle air volume relearn.
At this point, idle started from 2k and settle down slowly at 1100 rpm.
I left the car on for about 15 minutes becuase I was talking to my neighbors and I totally forgot I left my car on..
When I got back in my car, my idle was exactly on 750 and so smooth.
( I know specification says it's 650 +/-50 for manual transmission so it's still about 50~100 rpm high but I will give about a month to see if ECU do something about this by itself. )
I drove it to my work (about 28miles), restarted , it's fine!!!!
I guess I got lucky.
It is super normal now and idle during stop light is just so smooth that feels like a new car.
If you are having similar problem, try what I did.
hope it works for you too.
I'm glad that I don't need to go to stealer ship and get consult 2 or 3 to reprogram.
have a good day guys.

Yeah I had the same problem when I did mine and left the battery unplugged for about an hour or two plugged it back in without doing any sort of relearn and it was perfectly fine.

I went through this same thing after a spacer install where I cleaned the TB. It was giving a P0507 code. I had to do the reteach about 10 times before it finally came down to spec but it did so if you're in this situation, just be patient and keep doing the reteach.
1.) Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
2.) Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch ON and wait 3 seconds.
3.) Repeat the following procedure quickly five times within 5 seconds.
4.) Fully depress the accelerator pedal.
5.) Fully release the accelerator pedal.
6.) Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the MIL stops blinking and turned ON. ( you should here the TB clicking )
7.) Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the MIL turned ON.
8.) Start engine and let it idle.
9.) Wait 20 seconds.
10.) Repeat as many times as necessary.... took me over 10 times.
