So today in the morning i was driving to school, accelerated quicker in first gear to overtake a truck from the light to get on the highway. after this the car didnt want to rev past 2.5k, every time that i would attempt to accelerate past that it wouldnt let me but it was like it would just want to stall itself.
Once i got a chance to pull over i shut the car of, turned it back on and realized that the car was idling rough, when i put it in to neutral and i dont hold down the clutch there is a grinding noise once the clutch is clicked in it goes away.
The car is a 2005 touring model i have 71000 km on it, only has a aem cai, and no i just switched to mobil 1 syntetic from regular last weekend
When trying to go past the about 2.5k rev it starts to juke as if it is redlining, also it sounds noise when taking of it was noise earlier aswel between shifts but its like a soft grinding noise until the sound gets overpowered by the exhaust.
I kno that 350z have a noisy gear box but i never really noticed it this much before
thanks
No check engine light has come on? Anything engine related that would make the engine run that poorly would likely set off a light. From what you are saying it sounds like something may have come apart in the clutch or tranny... My other guess is that you suddenly sprung a massive air leak, like the air intake tube or a large vacuum line popped off. Another possibility is ignition failure, such as coil packs going out, but again that would likely throw a check engine light.
Ye there was no check engine light on, but the car actually works fine after i:
tightened all the hoses and the cleaned the filter, the problem was i think that it rained last night and i think that the cai sucked up water since i have no bypass yet (anyone have one they want to sell) this could have caused it to do what it did but i am not 100 percent positive going to take it to the mechanic on tuesday morning and will tell you guys what the problem was.
One question is it normal to hear the grinding in the gear box i know that its a noise tranny but i never heard it before or really payed attention to it

anyways thank you ms350z
Sucking enough water into the engine could certainly cause it to stall out. Hopefully your air intake couldn't suck in enough water to hydrolock the engine, which could have nasty results like bent rods Since your car is running fine now the engine is probably OK. I certainly can't think of any "grinding" noise in the transmission that would be normal. If anything our transmissions will make a bit of a whirring or chirping (throw-out bearing) noise.
I had a similar noise to what you mentioned in the transmission of a previous car. The noise started after accelerating hard, then suddenly went away a few miles later and the car continued to drive fine. Months later I removed the transmission to replace the clutch and found that one of the tabs on the clutch pressure plate had snapped off and embedded itself in the bellhousing, it almost went THROUGH the bellhousing! Apparently the tab had broken off the pressure plate, grinded around for a bit and launched into the bellhousing where it stayed embedded until I removed the tranny. You may want to have the tranny fluid changed by your mechanic while he is checking everything out. It certainly wouldn't hurt, and if the fluid is somehow a bit low or burnt out it may help with the noise you're hearing.
Definitely will do that tomorrow i was planing on changing the trany fluid already but kept postponing it now i definitely have a god reason. thanks once again ms350z
