Recently I have acquired a weired metal on metal rubbing sound in the back passenger wheel. It's not a grinding sound and it is not constant, it seems like it happens at the same spot on every revolution. Kind of like something is bent, not broken. I took the wheel off and the brake caliper and turned the wheel myself and it is coming from the assembly where the wheel bearing would be. Has anyone experienced this issue before? What could it be? Where should I look next?

Take the rotor off and look at the ebrake set up. Make sure both hold downs and return springs are ok. Check to see if the dust shield is bent or rubbing also.

Would that cause rubbing in a specific spot on each revolution of the tire? That sounds like it would have been a constant rubbing as the tire is turning. I had a hard time taking the rear rotor off and have just read that to break it loose you need to bang it with a rubber mallet and use some WD. Anything else I should examine while I take this stuff off?

Ebrake problems can cause all kinds of weird noises. I would check everything in that area first; if nothing there, proceed to hub/bearing assembly then to axle cv joint. 2 different ways to remove rotor - rubber mallet on edge of rotor - strike it a 3 and 9 and 6 and 12. Basically you just want to start it moving and then you can take over by hand. Rock it in those same spots and it will come loose. 2nd way is the same except you are using a heavy hammer on the face of the rotor (hub area, not brake surface) with the same strategy. If you're not real accurate with a hammer, throw the lug nuts on to protect the studs. Good luck!

Anyways....

I won't be able to get under the car until the weekend. One other thing I noticed is that when I make a hard left the sound goes away.

Any other suggestions while I am under the car?

can you share how you found out exactly it was the wheel bearing? shaking the wheel?

I had the exact same issue. The wheel will not shake like a normal bad wheel bearing. We took the bearing out and actually turned in our hands and could hear the grinding noise. On the bearing itself was a small nick. The part is $89. My buddy helped me as I could not do it in my own. It is 3-4 hours in the dealer service estimate ($85 per hour X 4) you are looking at about $425 at the stealership. I also contacted a independent shop and they could save $15 an hour on labor so you would save $60

Did you order a whole hub assembly or just the bearing?

I need a right rear bearing at the least, just not sure how it comes.
