Default 2003 Nissan 350Z Touring - Navigation Screen Won't Turn On

Hi Guys,

In recent weeks, I've noticed the navigation screen in my '03 has been on and off, but since last Friday it has completely shut off (just when I started inputting some key addresses! lol). I was wondering if you guys have encountered this problem and if it's an easy fix. I did a quick search and a person mentioned there's a motor for the lid, and it's the lid that activates the screen.

I'll be going in for my 90K service soon at an independent shop and I'll pose the same question. I was just wondering if you guys have had the same issue.

Thanks in advance!

Hmmm have you also tried a search on Google?

My father's navigation had an issue similar, but that was a Honda unit. They actually had to replace the whole unit.

Mine does that when it's cold, but I've never investigated it.

I too have a '03 Touring and the NAV screen is blank. The guy at the dealership simply told me that the disc in the nav player isn't spinning and that the cost would be $4K??? My head-unit has power, I think, because the keypad buttons are lit up. Has this issue ever been resolved?

Thanks,
Ray

I seriously think something in mine is just loose enough to lose contact in cold weather and re-gain contact in cooler weather. I wish it worked all the time, but it's not like I actually use it.

Did anyone ever find a solution to this problem? The DVD player beeps twice after starting the car, but the screen never comes on. I can also hear the DVD "reading" the disc as I drive around. I've taken everything apart and checked for power and ground at all the connectors, so my conclusion is that it is likely the screen unit.

Thanks,
Mike.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but I have the exact same problem after installing an aftermarket DD with JDM a/c controls.

Disc spins up, two beeps, nothing on the screen (not powered and black, just dead)

Did anyone figure this out yet? I refuse to think that it "died" at the same time I swapped head units, I think it's more likely a wiring thing.

I am offering $$ for anybody with a method that fixes it.
