covertable top lubrication
I have an 05 roadster with15,000 miles on it, have heard of people having problems with bow motors burning out, etc. Am I supposed to lubricate the mechanisms so the chances of malfunction are decreased? Any thoughts are appreciated!

I lube mine every year. The shop manual shows the points but it's basically all the hinges (there are quite a few), the two gears just behind each door and the latches. They recommend Nissan window mechanism lube but I just use a good lithium grease on the gears and silicone on the rest.

In addition to the lube points Zacny mentioned, be sure to clean and lubricate the track at the inside bottom of the 5th bow. You will note the two rods and stays that travel laterally sliding in this track. This is what provides the lifting action for the 5th bow. Since there is a nylon material in the track, a silicon gel lube is best here. Also lube the mechanism that opens the hatch cover (two motors) as well as the three latch points at the top of the windshield.
