Damaged quarter panel. Is this rust??
I got a dent in my rear driver quarter panel a while ago and the metal shows. I just noticed today that it looked a little bronze. Is this rust? if it is what should I do... help

If you lost some paint or the paint was cracked then you've got rust and you really want to get it sealed before the coming winter. If you're living in LA then the winters aren't going to be that bad, but all the same get it repaired sooner rather than later.

My car is usually vinyl wrapped so I don't have to worry about that. I also drive under 1500 miles a year also. None of my cars except the Toyota sees the snow. Not even the Toyota has rust because I spray WD40 and oil in spots every 2 months where metal is exposed or where salt likes to accumulate. Learned that from my dad. Baby been running strong and rust free since I was 16.

For the most part I do only drive on weekends or special events. Keep in mind I try to spread the mileage to the other cars because I don't like leaving them inactive for so long. One weekend I might not even drive my Z the other I might. So far all I have is about 600 miles since it's been out of storage and they finally fixed the bloody roads around here. Gonna be driving them a lot more often before we get another **** show winter again.

You would if your town dumped piles of salt on the roads as soon as it drops below 40 or a tiny snow flake falls from the sky 300 miles away...Driving around here in the winter is guaranteed to screw up your car even if you do wash it (you have to wash it thoroughly, not some quick drive thru car wash). If the salt rusting it away won't destroy it slowly the pot holes in the city will.

Touch up paint won't help if the clearcoat is gone.
My wheel well paint chipped and started to peel. It progressively got worse and after 2-3 months the rust started to show, so I got it repainted and it's good as new. I suggest to do the same. The longer you wait, the worse off you'll be.
