Possibly air leak causing knocking because ignition timing is trying to compensate for the extra air.

No youtube at work, so I can't hear it.

You really shouldn't make assumptions like this. The install took me over 4 hours and I was very precise about following the instructions provided by motordyne. Watched several videos about the installation process and did my research before I even touched the latch to release the hood on my car. That being said, I understand that mistakes do happen even when all precautions are taken. I will be taking it apart tonight and re-installing just to make sure all bases are covered. Thanks for your input.

I don't have the MREV installed, but any time I install a gasket I also install a gasket sealant to prevent leaks.

It's not an assumption if its true you obviously made a mistake somewhere not a big one, but just enough...
Just because it took you 4 hours doesn't mean you knew what you where doing or doing it right trust me I know from experience sometimes it just takes a re-install lol

I'm sure you will be able to fix it.
It just sucks having to take things apart again when you simply want to enjoy them lol

you have to play it right. you can't just ask "can i see your *****?"

you have to be more like "you look pretty, can i see your *****?"

Yeah your right about that

I'm hoping I did do something wrong that can be easily fixed, and that it's not something more serious that's unrelated to the install

UPDATE:

OK, so I took the car to Nissan today and they diagnosed it as the timing chain. Quoted me $1700 to fix it. They said that if they are wrong and the knocking is still there after the repair is complete that I would not be charged. The car is there now and should be done on Monday. My question is why on earth am I looking at having to replace a timing chain at only 31k miles? ... not gonna lie, kinda pissed off

They had 2 master techs on it. They listened to where the sound was coming from with a stethoscope. They said they see the issue a lot on the maximas but have only seen 2 other cases on the 350z. They said the plastic pieces used for the timing chain can wear out or something like that.
