Default Starter replacement!

Update: Previous problem removed the starter success.

New problem:

I'm replacing a dead starter with a new one and the old starter has a male connector while the new one has a female connector. Should I cut and connect the wires to fit the connector type? Or is there a converter for this?

Unhook the battery, remove the cables from the starter, take out the 2 or 3 bolts holding it (I can't remember how many) and pull it forward out of the hole.

I didn't have any issues getting mine out when I changed my clutch/flywheel. I don't know what could be getting it hung.

Does it move out any?

It is 2 bolts.



As you can see, there is nothing hanging out that could hang on anything.

Yes I unscrewed the 2 bolts, removed the cables. When I try to pull it out, the top part of the starter is just too large for the small space at the bottom. I tried different position for 2+ hours yet no result, tried turning the wheels to give more space at the steering part yet still not enough

No, It just takes patience. Nissan would not make a car that their mechanics couldn't pull starters on. Although GM has made cars that had to raise motors to change out plugs.

Visualize which way the solenoid has to rotate to drop out.

Something is hitting something somewhere. I had my car up on the lift which helps with seeing and I remember it is a tight fit but it can be removed.

I finally got it out after removing my Diffuser. Silly me x.x

Cutting it will void any warranty.

The nose is different too. I would check that the gear is the same on each. There are probably 2 versions.

EDIT:
After another look, they are different. Take it back for the right one. Look at your solenoid compared to the mounting tabs. Also both mount holes are threaded on the new one where the old one only has one threaded IIRC.

The one I got is similar to this one that you posted earlier, the connector, the nose and even the mount hole.

It's a Denso 280-3133, from which every auto part sites say exact fit. Or am I being tricked

Only thing I can't figure out is the connectors are opposite and can't fit. Is there one you recommend?

Looks like you pulled the whole connector out. You should be able to take the male end out, it is the side pointing away from the camera.

I change my starter with one from Autozone and the tab on male plug that came with it broke off as soon as I connected it. It is stuck in there so I put electrical tape on it to make sure it stays.

The one I pictured was for my 04. I just got on autozone and looked up an 08 350z and got this.



They changed design on the HR engine.

Yea on second look the mounting holes look like they don't line up
