Car will rev but wont move
Not sure if this is the right section to post but could use your guys help. I drove my car to lunch and class with no troubles. I go into class and when I come out I start the car with no problems. I go to back up and car will rev but won't move. I put it in neutral push it out , try to go forward in 1st and same problem. Revs up fine but won't move as if I'm in neutral. Car has been running great so not sure what's going on. Any ideas?

Yup it must be the clutch. Just put it reverse and let the clutch out with out giving any gas and it didn't even stall. Is it normal for it to go out of no where? I wasnt have any symptoms of failing clutch and I wasn't driving it hard. Anyways gonna get it trailered home

seeing that you can put it in 1st or R, then I rule out throwout bearing, if that were faulty you'd be grinding gears as the clutch pressure plate would still be engaged to the clutch.
My only two guesses are
1 - the plate has lost all friction material
2 the inner geared bushing in the middle of the plate reamed off and is now free spinning . usually the gear/ring is held in place by four springs, that dampen the force on the input shaft when the clutch DOES engage the flywheel.
(update: I looked at an old clutch plate and the geared/splined bushing I speak of is part of a larger plate that floats just a bit between two outer plates (where the friction material is), even with the springs completely out, the inner plate would jam against the sandwiched outer plates. I don't think you sheared that off, but you could have stripped the splines, effectively doing the same thing, no grip of the clutch plate against flywheel. Would really like to know what happened.)
interested in knowing what the problem is here, so let us know.

ahhhhh
I can't recall were you able to get it into gear? So if it was bad, then there was no grip on the flywheel, with no grip on the flywheel you could put it in gear..right...
was it expensive to replace the pressure plate and clutch disc?
