Hey guys I have a 2004 350z just did The spark plugs and found some oil in the passenger side of engine last plug, took out the coil packet and cleaned that off and replaced the plug and asked my neighbor who's a crew chief in airforce and he said its probably a valve cover gasket and I'll need to replace it. So now a hundred miles after spark plug change got a low oil pressure light when in first gear slowly moving with clutch halfway released to just creep along.. But when idling was fine. So checked my oil level and was pretty low on oil, guessing it's from burning it up so went oht bought a quart put it in and is running and idling fine also bought new valve cover gaskets while at the store.

Just wanted to get some other opinions on this topic, any one else had this problem before? If so let me know if appreciate it

I was looking for the same story some time ago for my Infiniti FX35, 4 out of 6 show some oil in the plug hole.
This will not be solved by buying a new cover gasket, inside the valve cover are 3 custom O-rings around each sparkplug hole.
These are a fixed part of the plastic valve cover and are *not* replaceable.
I've read the story of drilling out the OEM valve covers and install some aftermarket seals etc. but with all the respect, i don't think it's reliable.
A set of new OEM valve covers is the way to go.

Does yours leak that bad from the one plug hole that your oil level drops that fast?

I dont think your problem is your valve cover seals but the fact that youre losing quarts of oil...how many miles on the car? did the '04 have problems burning oil??

it's the seal around the spark plug. There was one place that was selling the seals don't know if they still do. You have to drill out the old ones and replace the new ones. They were selling rebuilt valve covers. I have the same problem with my 2004 I just take that coil out once in a while clean it and put it back on I don't have a problem with it. Sounds like what your talking about with the light is your running low on oil maybe you might be burning it. The dip stick on these is a pain in the *** to read and a poor design.

And the dipstick is terrible, first time I did an oil change I apparently didn't get it all the way in and it spit out a bit of oil, which smoked forever when it got hot. It's in a terrible location, under the intake? Like really? They could've done much better but oh well..

I hate this on my FX35, but the Z is HR engine and i was really happy when i opened the hood the first time and found the dip stick on a better location.

Sorry for late reply but found out my piston rings are worn and probably my valve guides are worn out too so I either have the choice of a new engine or re manufactured engine or a overhaul on my engine that I have in there now
