2007 350z 5at doesn't start - no crank, just clicks, new battery
I recently got a 350z and it's been an incredible car up until recently - I went to turn it on a few nights ago and it started with no issues, but about 30 seconds later(I was still in my driveway) it just shut off and now it refuses to turn back on. I figured maybe the battery was bad(the voltage was below 12, and it was 5 years old and cheap to begin with) so I went ahead and replaced that but it didn't seem to make a difference. All of the electronics in the car, radio, nav, etc all get power just fine.
The car just clicks when the key is turned, it doesn't crank at all.
Here's a video of the noise it makes:
Any ideas?

fuses look good, just got done checking them. if it's the starter, why would it have died 30 seconds after being turned on? I'm somewhat mechanically challenged but that doesn't seem like it'd be related

i thought that too but I did put a brand new battery in and it still does the same thing, doesn't crank or anything. I figured it if it was the alternator it would at least start/crank and then die

hello, I know remember that i had a AT car that would do the same thing(its been so long that I barely remember) there is a switch(kinda like a sensor actually) its called the neutral safety switch, might want to check that, and the positive terminal fuses there are like 5 of them(have to change whole positive terminal for the 350z from what I remember). If not maybe a mechanic might be the next best option.

tried manually cranking it, just turns a bit and then stops, feels like it's being blocked. there's a dragging noise so I'm pretty sure something is loose internally

never did pull the engine apart, but there was something preventing it from cranking more then 90 degrees or so in either direction. new engine in the car now and everything is great, I'm just incredibly confused as to how this happened - car had 70100 miles on it at the time which seems very, very low for something as major as this to be happening
