The easy fix, pull the bulbs for inspection.
I wouldn't mind, safer at night...Ck the switch on your shifter.

"That's definitely a strange one, not heard of that before. Most likely its just the switch in the transmission not "releasing" so to speak. If you get under the car you'll see what looks like sensors sticking out of the transmission. There should be 3 in all, the reverse switch, neutral switch, and speed sensor. I believe the reverse switch will be basically in the middle of the three and has a hexagonal body like a nut (as does the neutral switch). The speed sensor has a larger cylindrical body so it will be easy to tell between that one.
Just pull out the reverse switch and see if the switch is stuck. If so, you could try cleaning it to get it unstuck, otherwise if you can't get it to work I'd just replace it."

actually this happened to my previous 350z, there is a kind of "plug" on the brake pedal itself, this plug breaks off and causes that(when the brake pedal is not pressed the plug makes contact with a switch letting it know where it is positioned if I'm not mistaken), mine was replaced with a regular interior trim plug from the nearest gas station. The one from my clutch pedal broke too and that car would not start because of it.
