Default Wipers have gone crazy

I was driving to the airport yesterday in the rain and my wipers just went crazy. I tried to turn them off and they just kept going no matter what I did with the ****. It continued to do this all the way to the airport. On and off for about 15 seconds and would then just stop in some random position. Never down of course. I would turn them on to try to stop them in the down position, but same thing. They would run for about 15 seconds and just stop god knows where.

I've searched of this issue and really haven't found anyone else with this issue. I saw something about taking the battery cables off for 10 seconds to try and "reset" everything, so I'll try that when I get home. The biggest problem is that I'm driving 6 hours the morning after I get home for a NASA track weekend.

Worst case, I'll try and find the fuse and just disable them for the weekend, but I was hoping somebody else may have see or heard of this issue. I'll keep searching, but I'd appreciate any heads up you guys may have.

Thanks in advance if anybody can point me in the right direction.

Sounds to me like a wiring fault somewhere. As you stated, I would reset everything using the battery trick. And I would check the fuse that controls the wipers and if neither of those do the trick, just pull the fuse until you're home

Just tell the wiper to stop that.

Seriously, sound like a wiring issue. Do the battery trick and see if that works.
