Valve cover replacement.
Okay so my fellow Zs. I recently replaced my valve cover gasket, everythings back on properly etc. but now when i start the car theres this whining noise and my cars a bit shakey, and when i rev my engine a little bit, it seems to have a little lag on returning back to normal idle if that makes any sense. Any ideas? I tried the search but it didnt really help. Thanks

Dammit, wouldnt be surprised honestly I might've over torqued the gaskets at some points since i did break a couple bolts while tightening down the vc.. But would that effect the idle at all? Ill rip apart the vc and replace the gaskets again tonight, would resetting the tb help at all with the idle issues?

Wait a second though...you broke the bolts tightening down the valve cover? You must have really snugged them down to break them. I'm pretty sure valve cover bolts don't require that much muscle. Not to mention you don't want bolts getting stuck in your head...Get yourself a torque wrench or something lol.

Initial torques specs are 9-26 in lbs.
Final torque specs are 65-82 in lbs.
That's not a whole lot. Once they're snugged up you're done. But doesn't hurt to use a torque wrench if you can get a hold of one. And another thing. Valve covers usually have a sequence to follow. And that's just as important as torque specs.
