Car Shakes When Idle?
I have a 2003 Nissan 350Z with 131,000 miles on it. The car shakes noticeable when idle. I do have a service engine light that I checked out at Pepboys. The two codes that were given stated that I had to change the 1 spark plug & get a new ECM. Once I change both of these will the car stop shaking when idle? I changed the oil and gave it a light clean up today but it till shakes noticeable when idle. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Check the plugs. If they look bad change them. If they look ok then what you can do is swap the cylinder 1 coil with another cylinder. Clear the codes so the CEL light goes off. Go for a drive. I'm assuming the code you got was a cyl 1 misfire code P0301. If the CEL comes back on and the code jumps to the cylinder you swapped the #1 coil to then you know it's that coil and you can replace it.
P0300 is random/multiple cylinder misfire
P0301 is cylinder 1 misfire
P0302 is cylinder 2 misfire
P0303 is cylinder 3 misfire
And so on.
Here is how the cylinders are numbered.
I don't know what to tell you about the "bad ECU" code. What was the code number?

PO302 - spark plug/bad coil
U1000 - ecm/ecu change needed
He said he will change the coil plus full tune up for 400-500. He will also check on the transmission issue and let me know if its anything more serious.
i don't know if its a good deal or not. The car is a 2003 Nissan 350z Touring with 131,000 miles bought at 5,000 cash. Right now because I have to spend money to get things fixed I feel like I got suckered in the deal. but they said I paid a good price because everything else seems to be working fine. Until he gives it a real check up sometime in a day or 2. So Im just waiting on the verdict & the bill...smh. I love the car but I hope I didn't lose out in this deal. What do you guys think?
I also made another thread with a more detailed post & info.

Thanks guys for actually taking the time to reply. And not flaming. New driver first car I'm learning as i go...

The 0302 might cause the u1000. It's kind of a stab in the dark, but I have seen cases (mainly in fords) where, in simple terms for the sake of quick explanation, the plugs or coils have gone bad and gone unnoticed for so long that a signal back feeds into the ecu and fries it.
Also there is a tsb on our cars for u1000

Edit: the u1000 code is NOT the transmission code the mechanic pulled. That is a separate issue. The scanner that pep boys used would have only pulled ECM codes and not transmission, abs, or air bag codes. The scanner any mechanic worth his salt would use would be an expensive piece of equipment that could do all of that and more.
