So I moved to a new house. Parked the z on the street. Neighbors family member back into it. They were nice and left a note saying they would pay for it (I'm sure thinking it would be a $200 fix). I got a quote of $1700 and brought it to her attention. Of chorse that did not go so well. She wants a few more quotes including one from a dent less repair guy. Anyway, car has 60k on it and clear coat is starting to go in places. I might put it up for sale soon but this new dent has me stuck. I'm sure it decrease the value of it. I also mentioned insurance (not hers but her family memeber) might be the best of this one. Opinions or maybe options I'm not seeing here? Don't want to push it too much and become the *** hole in the neighborhood overy a stupied dent. Also I have be very little time to deal with this. First son was just born on sunday so life is crazy! Another reason to finally let my Z go after six years.

Agreed...and they will probably have their preferred shops give them a quote to fix it and they will go from there.

looks like a paintless dent repair can pop it out. the first pic looks bad but the rest doesnt look that bad. and it doesnt look like the paint was damage at all. i would try a few more quote and then offers up the possibility of bringing the insurance into this.

at the end of the day, whether youre an ******* or not, get it fix to your happiness.

As others have stated, PDR should be able to easily fix that. It's an an "easier" location for a PDR specialist to work on. A real pro should even be able to polish and buff out the clear coat if there are any scuff marks.

I had 8 small dings/depressions around my Z (doors, hood, hatch, right rear fender) and all were repaired by a PDR specialist. It only took him about 2 hours and cost me less than $400.00. Some of them were in really nasty spots, or so I thought. But he was able to get all of them out with relative ease. I couldn't be happier with the work and price.

I highly recommend you do some searching for a professionally trained paintless dent removal specialist in your area. Be careful about who you pick. I can't speak for all areas, but in my neck of the woods, a lot of guys that advertise PDR work are glorified DIY types who never had professional training/certification.

Its your stuff man. She was a moron and backed in to it. Don't let her not pay for it. Don't find some cheep repair place. Get it done right.

She made a bad decision in life, and now needs to deal with it.

You'd be surprised how well PDR can get it done. Looks like a $200-$300 job, possibly a little more. I don't see any paint chips so it should look good as new. The reason why you got quoted $1700 is probably to replace and paint the whole fender.

i had a dent like that. Went with a full repair and paint shop. I ended up paying 900 bucks in san diego.

No. Pdr will not be able to get the crease back...get her insurance and YOU get to pick where it is repaired.

I had a nearly identical dent repaired with PDR. The dent pictured is getting close to the limit of PDR because this particular repair requires stretching the metal so far. A good technician can do this, but the metal might look slightly stretched. I think that it will still be better than filling and painting.

I agree with others here that her insurance should pay. The co$t should be < $600, and it will require some buffing.

I know a PDR guy who's repaired worse than what you have OP and it was flawless. That being said, your results WILL vary from one PDR guy to another, so be sure to get one who is well respected.

Don't get caught up in some sort of insurance fraud because it will cost you a lot more than pulling a dent out of your car. If she doesn't have insurance and refuses to pay, file a police report NOW, otherwise you're going to be the only one responsible for swallowing the cost of the repair.

it really depends on the pdr guy. they guy that did mine got several out that were on body lines

I had a door ding on my passenger side door that was right at the center body line. There's also a crash safety reinforcement bar running alongside this horizontal line inside the door. The PDR guy I hired removed it with ease, I was blown away.

I had him do my Wife's car at the same time (Acura RL) which had a few nasty dings in the hood, right on the hood body lines. He was able to remove one, can't even tell it's there. The other he was able to improve by 70%, but couldn't get all the way out since he didn't have access from behind.

The rear fenders on the Z can be repaired using PDR with relative ease. I had a nasty crease/ding from what I think was a shopping cart on my passenger side rear fender. Just above the horizontal body line, but right on the forward curved/flared portion of the fender. The PDR guy drilled a small hole from inside the wheel well, and popped it all out using his awesome fulcrum point tools. Afterwards he patched up the small hole he drilled (Completely sealed, will not rust). I didn't like the idea of drilling any holes in the car, even if it's in an area you won't ever see it. But the patch/plug he installed is solid, properly prevents rust/oxidation from forming.

Car looks nearly flawless besides the front bumper suffering from freeway rock chips.

Without a doubt though, get the insurance information. Possibly file a claim now. Who cares if feelings get hurt, this is what insurance is for and you are the victim here.
