Default Please help! Overheating issues!

Okay, so my Z overheated and coolant was everywhere. I replaced my thermostat and hoses. She is still overheating when I take her around the block. I have been bleeding the system. The heater works, the upper and lower hoses are both warm. I am assuming she still has air in her. It looks like the water pump is working still, which I feared could be another reason she isn't working for me. I am just trying to see if anyone has any other suggestions, or if I should just continue to bleed her???

Sounds like there is still air trapped as you are suspecting, so yes I would just keep bleeding the system and it can be a pain sometimes to get it all out. Also one of these will save alot of time and is worth every penny or you call make your own.

Have you checked to see if the fans kick in when she's sat on idle and up to temperature as these can be a weak point.

A quick and easy way to test the cooling fans (and other things) is with the IPDM E/R Auto Active Test. Its will test both high and low fans without having to bring the engine to temp.

Fans are kicking on properly. Right now, the lower hose is cold. Heater works though... I don't know what to do now.

At this point what I would do is gut out your old thermostat leaving just the metal housing and reinstall it. The reason I'm suggesting this is because bleeding the air without a thermostat is very quick and easy to do. I would also check your new thermostat while its out to make sure you didn't just happen to get a bad one. Boil up some water, drop it in and see if it moves like its supposed to. May want to repeat this a few times just to be certain. If after doing these things your still overheating then that really only leaves a clogged radiator or faulty water pump. Also when your bleeding the air try and have the front of the car up on ramps or some kind of incline if possible, that will help tremendously. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

I already replaced the thermostat and the hoses. The heater was hot but now turned cold. Also, the lower hose is still cold. It is like the progress is going negative now. How can I check to see if my radiator is bad or clogged?
