A couple of questions on your build: is this really intended to be a racecar? Most of us start from the basics and build out, but your build seems more like starting with the extras first. Like a street car build that can be used for track days. Tires, wheels, bodywork and front subframe braces (not really legal in any race series I'm familiar with) yes, but nothing on the custom rollcage and all the safety equipment required for time trial or D2D comp. I'm always interested in racecar builds, but am confused looking at this build. Also, weren't you planning to race your Z at Summit Point Raceway in West VA? I'm familiar with that circuit, as I started my own racing career there.

thanks chriz but no the fronts are 265 and rears are 295s...the fronts just look massive because of the no fender lol
lol i was waiting on some one to ask about that...tittle is #becauseracecar because its not ur basic stance car you see...Im all about function and enjoying the Z as it was supposto be...Like all of us, we have bills so parts come slow...So starting off as a nice looking functional street car and track on weekends kind of car...Congrats on your success on the track! I am just doing it as a hobby and try to improve my driving skills no plans on going pro lol

Have you ever taken your Z to Summit Point? Very challenging circuit and there's an affordable on-track program on Fridays, I believe. FATT might get you out on a real road track where the Z belongs!

OK- that clears it up quite a bit. So it sounds like the custom rollcage and safety equipment are VERY far down the priority list. That's usually where most racers start a racecar build.

But that's what a racecar build is all about- it's whatever you have to do to get out on the racetrack and start getting races under your belt. It's part passion, part planning and not always rational or comfortable.

Actually, if properly built and installed, a rollcage, race seat and harness are NOT "much more dangerous" for street driving. But they remain a PITA to get into and out of. What would I know about this? For the first few years of my racing career, my DD was a showroom stock racecar. I had to bring it back after a weekend of door-to-door dicing, so I could drive to work on Monday!

The only reason I haven't bought carbon race buckets and an aftermarket wheel is that I'd rather have side and front impact bags.
Besides that, the cost to go full cage, nice seats, replace your seatbelts, helmet etc is kind of insane. Combine that with tire costs, and a personally owned track car can be suicidal. Add in wheels, motor work, a real working suspension, nice brakes, working aero parts, just FML. I'd rather stick to the canyons and keep the 5-10k in my pocket and have a fake race car lmao.
Although a true racing fuel cell IMHO safety wise is worth it. Can mean the difference between walking away and having an early grave right there alone.
