"With the Internet being an open, anonymous forum, people feel like they can say anything, things they probably wouldn't say to my face," Maynard told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) on Tuesday. "That doesn't really surprise me as much."
Kyle on a few Atlanta area radio stations late last year talking about his career and training. David Oblas the fight promoter is the brother of a good friend of mine, I'm interested in seeing what Kyle does in this fight. Auburn isn't far from here I might ride down and check it out. I usually get free admission to Oblas promoted shows.
this is a pretty good article/interview on maynard. i dont see anything wrong with this, people act like getting an ass beating is a big deal. he is an adult, he wants it and there is some one who feels comfortable fighting him... so let him do it
edit. also i am not saying maynard is going to get his ass kicked, I'm just saying if he does its not a big deal. he was a good wrestler and also a power lifter, i think people are underestimating him

I don't see how it's fair for the guy he's fighting.
You can't kick him in the head; he's going to considered a grounded fighter.
You can't punch him without getting on your knees -- at least, not awkwardly -- and when you have your legs tucked under you, you can't move as well. Advantage Maynard.
And as far as weight, it won't be fair, because whoever he's fighting will be 135 pounds including arms and legs. Maynard is 135 pounds of torso. Stronger, denser core.
Maynard might lose.
But it's not really a fair fight for either fighter.
Interesting videos GodZilla but this is a MMA match not a wrestling match. A smart fighter would expose an opponent's weakness not fight his at his strength.

Getting an ass beating is not a big deal but getting an ass beating when you are defenseless is. This would be like letting a guy with no arms box just cause he wants to. You have to draw the line somewhere.

I am thinking the same thing. Even if he is a great wrestler, that is all he has. If the other guy comes out trying to KO him he will be in trouble. It will be painful to watch him try to defend a RNC with no hands...

Interesting point about the weight but the only way Maynard could possibly win is by decision. It is unlikely that he submits or KOs his opponent.
