i like this match up for silva... forrest is going to push silva and i think he is the kind of aggressor silva needs to put on a good show. being that silva walks around at 225 i dont think the move up is going to f*ck with his game(didn't seem to against irvin) and i believe he will beat forrest, i have no doubt actually. i hope to see forest take it though
Should be a good fight. Forrest has a pretty solid chin and a great all around game. I think he will give Silva a run for his money. This could go either way.
Oh, and BJ Penn vs. Florian is on the card too. Starting out pretty well. Can't wait to see what else they add to it.
^
i think penn will take it, intersting that florian has been training with gsp though... i wounder how that will effect things, imo... not all that much. florian has skills, but penn has sh!t to prove and a bit of a grudge along with some mother effin ninja skillz
I'm taking Anderson Silva in this one. Forrest Griffin has a pretty significant size advantage but his skill set is not on Silva's level. Plus Griffin's chin in my opinion is not very solid.
Ive given up on getting excited for these so called "Super Fights" from the UFC... They keep turning out to be huge busts. Its always the less hyped up fights that end up being the most epic.
My favorite is still Silva v. Irvin when he first went up to 205, Sandman talked a bunch of sh!t and then got knocked the f*ck out.
I will be rooting for Forrest. Last time they gave Forrest someone this high calibur it was Shogun and everyone was chipping in to buy Forrests tombstone. Forrest fights a lot smarter than he used to and I bet his game plan will involve more defense, a lot of clinch work, and some GnP. I think this fight will shadow Couture vs Sylvia a lot, keep Anderson against the cage or on the ground, control the clinch, limit the full length striking.
Forrest has been caught before, and if anyone can do it again it will be Silva, which is why Forrest will need to have his defense at the top of his game.

.
yup, thats cause in MMA now. everyone knows everything. there is nothign new to learn. everyone is well versed in muay thai and BJJ. so when you get 2 amazing fighters in the ring. it ends up being a stalemate.
but in the undercard fights, those guys arent as good. so someone always ends up getting caught. which makes for much better fights.

shogun was handicapped when he fought Forrest. I bet if they did a rematch the outcome would be very different. As much as Forrest has improved on his smarts will be completely overwhelmed by Anderson.

I agree Forrest is one of my fav's but i think he will be very overwhelmed. He will have to be smart and have one hell of a gameplan. I just dont see it happening for him.

Really? Or could it have been that he was used to using steriods, as has often been speculated about many of the pride stars, and that now that he had to do without them it took him longer and harder to get back to normal? Shogun knew what he was getting into and gave some horrible performances and a moderate performance against a once bright but now dim star.
Styles make fights, as the old saying goes, and Forrest has beaten quite a few powerful strikers. I am not saying AS will lose, I actually think he is the favorite to win in my book, but at the same time I will not write off a man who has won from somone who was supposed to be the better striker.
Forrest could shock AS with his power and size not to mention his freak of nature cardio. Then again look what happened to Rich Franklin - my money is on AS.
The fight that I want to see is GSP vs Anderson Silva - now thats money.
