Its always a great feeling knowing that you are about to puke in a mere couple of minutes. Best of luck, and welcome back to the grappling world. Just out of curiosity why an 8 year lay off. I would imagine you would be a brown belt by now.

first it was because of 9/11. Got real busy for a while. Then did the whole family thing.
I'd only be a purple. About all BJJ in Hawaii stems from Relson. I know guys that have been taking it for 15 years and just got their BB. There's a bunch of browns though.

Whats the name of the warrior training that originated in Hawaii??
Hello any updates?
I'm deciding whether or not I will be spending my summer in california or hawaii...
I'd really be interested in some classes there. I want to see if they teach differently!
Congrats on coming back into the jiu jitsu fold. My advise to you since you haven't trained in a very long time is to stretch allot, take it very slow at first and don't spar 100% intensity. I hadn't trained in awhile and came back to my jiu jitsu school (Gracie Barra Orlando, FL) and ended up with a herniated disc after a week.
Who's the teacher at that Gracie Barra?

I attend the no-gi classes. Got my ass kicked cause I have no cardio and everyone has 20+ lbs on me. It gets easier every week.

Been stretching, running, and hitting the gym. Slowly but surely I'll get back into the mix.

Do you only do No-Gi? The Gi classes are just as good, and even more technical as the Gi offers many variations of techniques otherwise that aren't played in No-Gi.
I just switched different schools recently as the school I was going to didn;t have a strong training regiment, nonetheless the instructors were never consistent. I found a new school with consistent training, better instructions, the 2 main instructors are always there if not one. My ground game definitely has improved in the 2+ weeks I've been training there in comparison to my 2 months at the other school. I do 2 gi days and 1 no-gi day throughout the week at 1 1/2 hours each so I am definitely feeling better about my grappling.
How long do you normally train and has your flexibility improved, I can imagine it has.
