The scheduling twists are non-stop in mixed martial arts. UFC is all set to debut in Memphis with a card following "The Ultimate Fighter 10" on December 12. Why Memphis? Well, it's Quinton "Rampage" Jackson's hometown and he was expected to take on fellow TUF 10 coach Rashad Evans in a much-anticipated fight.
But according to MMABay, a British MMA site with close ties to Jackson's camp, that won't be happening. The site reports that the Evans-Jackson fight has been dumped from the card because Rampage is expected to play the role of B.A. Baracus in the new "A-Team" movie which is currently filming in Vancouver, and he would not have had time to get in full training camp before UFC 107.
UPDATE: The Sun confirmed that Jackson did get the role in "The A-Team".
Wow, what a bummer! After what should be the best TUF season ever, now we have to wait months for Evans and Jackson to climb in the cage? UFC president Dana White, boarding a plane for Italy on Friday, was unavailable for comment.
All of a sudden, Memphis seems like a risky proposition with a depressed economy and no local star on the card. There's also the concern of fighting in the South as the SEC football season is wrapping up and the NFL is in its playoff drive. Ultimate Fight Night 17 in Nashville got next to no coverage in the Tennessean, will it be any different with the Memphis Commercial and on local television and radio? UFC 102 in Portland fell little flat and failed to sell out. Could it have been because of little media coverage locally?
WTF? I was really looking forward to him and Rashad fighting

This blows.. There nothing like seeing revenge from one of the coaches... Like Hendo knocking the crap out of Bisping for example.

I love Rampage and loved the A team.. Its rumored that jessica alba has joined the cast as well. Sure the fight between the two will be pushed back but as a hardcore Rampage fan i'm happy that i get to seem him on the Bigscreen as oneof my favorite actors from my childhood. I'm sure this will do alot for his career either way. He could use the rest (ie: old hand injury) and Rashad needs all the time off as well from that brutal beating ala Machida. I'm blown away by all the negative comments thatare thrownat Page for this ad not from this site but all the MMA sites overrun by tuf noobs!
$10 says that for all his tough talk at Forrest Griffin after Silva laid him out that he's doing this because he's really just doing anything he can to avoid a fight with (or any fight that would lead to a fight with) Anderson Silva himself.
He ducks a shot at Silva to fight Evans to see who gets to fight Silva, then he takes on a movie role to duck the fight with Evans to see who gets to fight Silva. Betcha that with Silva announcing an imminent retirement that Rampage is just hoping to turtle it out a little longer and not have to even come close to having Silva show the world just how full of holes Rampage really is.

Or....maybe he sees this as an opportunity to make more money than hes ever seen without the annoying concussion side effect....maybe.

if rampage was afraid to fight silva. all he would have to do, is turn down the fight, based on the fact that it does nothing for his career. why bother fighting a guy, that doesnt get you closer to a title shot??
dana white called rampage "dumb" and "stupid" today at the press conference for this week's ufc in texas. he did so because he said that rampage isn't getting paid much for the a-team role and he turned down a lot of money from the ufc to act instead.
I don't blame any UFC fighter for leaving to make money in movies/whatever...
All it takes is for you to be unemployed is a 2 fight losing streak or to get on Dana White's bad side.
Jon Fitch had an 8 fight win streak & 9 fights in the UFC, with his only loss being to GSP, and even he (and his entire camp btw) almost got kicked off the UFC roster for some minor contract stuff.

Get the money when you can imo.
well its all about money. and jon fitch isnt much of a crowd draw. so if he doesnt fulfil his contract, why would dana keep him around??
but speaking of contracts, im surprised the ufc doesnt have some type of stipulation to prevent this sort of thing from happening.
