Wow that was ugly to watch... Big guy was gassed after 2 minutes and his technique was horrid to say the least and the other guy didn't know what to do with a guy his size. Wow I'm just speechless. I hope neither of them make it to the finals.

Yeah that was just ridiculous to watch, 2nd round and hes already leaning on the cage and everything...they are both standing 10 ft away from each other with hands on knees trying to breath. What the hell have they been doing for training? In the beginning i was kinda going for the big guy, but both of them just sucked, the smaller guy had a couple decent kicks though. So many opportunities for each of them to do something, and they do nothing...
It scares me to see how short a time they lasted in the fight last night. Just imagine hwo bad of shape they were in before they started training. I didnt expect much from them anyways, they are both big guys and looked out of shape.
I kept waiting for the smaller guy to run in and start letting lose while the taller guy was just leaning on the cage or on his knees.
Im still not sure about the next fight. Kimbo versus the fat IFL champ.....
Is it me or does anyone else think the big guy should have still won the fight?
i mean yeah he was gassed, but it seemed like he made more contact and had more takedowns, advanced his position more on the ground, and had more submission attempts.

It's not just you. I think it was pretty clear that Shivers won round one, so I don't see how this didn't at least go to a 3rd round. How two of the judges thought McSweeney won the first round is beyond me.
Of course, I think UFC judging is pathetic all around. During the preliminary fights last weekend, here's one of the scorecards:
Eliot Marshall def. Jason Brilz via split decision (30-27, 27-30, 30-27)
Two judges had Marshall winning all three rounds and one had Brilz winning all three rounds. WTF? Of course, there's Bisping robbing Hamill, and a whole slew of jacked up scorecards like this one. UFC judging is a joke.
On another note, I'm one of the biggest Kevin Ferguson haters on the planet, but if McSweeney is supposed to be the best heavyweight on TUF, they might as well go ahead and give the contract to Kimbo now. I have no doubt that Roy is going to get KTFO by Kimbo next week. I have to grudgingly admit, Kimbo seems to be doing all the right things so far - he's working his ass off on the show. He knows he's a target on the show, so he's doing what he's supposed to in order to make sure he's ready for whatever gets thrown at him. I have to give him respect for that.

That fight was awful, I couldn't believe how out of shape they were.

At the very least Wes Shivers won the first found, I don't see how that can even be debated. The 2nd round is arguable, I'd probably have given it to the brit but who knows, should have gone a third round.

Agree with our fight assessment. Don't necessary agree with "UFC judging is a joke" as the problem is much deeper than that. The problem lies not only with the 10 point must system (which is designed for boxing) but also the athletic commissions and the judges that they assign. All that said, these fights are considered "exibitions" so I'm not sure what all rules they have to follow, possibly just some (maybe licensed referee and of course medical staff on hand) or all. The only time the UFC is responsible for assigning referees (and possibly judges) is oversees where no athletic commissions exist for MMA.
As a whole, MMA reffing and judging still has a long ways to go, evidenced by the scorecard of Marshall vs. Brillz from UFC 103 you posted. It's really quite sad that judges that are tought the same scoring methods can score the fight COMPLETELY opposite. I understand close fights, but you have to be able to look at a fight objectively, and I'm not sure they did that last night.
On another note, it's pretty sad that brit thinks he has what it takes to win the show after that fight, which he arguable didn't even win. I'd be surprised if he makes it past his next fight.
Not sure who to go with on this Kimbo/Roy Nelson fight. I haven't ever been a Kimbo fan, and Roy Nelson has a lot more experience and it much more well rounded (at least from what I've seen from Kimbo)...but ultimately Kimbo does have pretty good hands. I'd put Kimbo at a 1-2 or 1-3 underdog.

I'd also like to add as one of the Lesnar supporters that all the haters who said he couldn't fight worth a damn needs to see that fight and witness what real amateur mma is. At this point the only person who can come close to touching any of the current heavy weights is Kimbo and I agree that he's taking this a lot more serious than anyone there and more so than I or anyone else thought (including Dana) Lesnar might be repetitive but I'd watch his fights over the BS I've seen over the last 2 fights. I am looking forward to Kimbo knocking him the f*** out next week.

+1 he also didn't touch gloves after he kicked the other dude in the nuts.
i actually thought it should have went 3 rounds.
Yea that was a d*** move on his part for not acknowledging his kick to the nads. As far as 3rd rd; Let just put it this way. Even if it was close (which it was) the big guy was hands-on-knees hanging-on-cage tired halfway through the first and it would've been even uglier if it went to 3.

I thought it was weird for Wes to not touch gloves either, but then I remembered that in the last episode Rampage told his team to not touch gloves again. Having a strong sports background might have drilled into Wes some discipline and respect for what his coaches say.
Looking forward to next week's fight! I think Kimbo's gonna win by KTFO, but I'd really like to see if IFL tubby can take it to the ground and what Kimbo will do when he's there.

He's dumb but he's not that tumb to go toe to toe with Kimbo. He'll try to go for his weakness and that's the ground. Even if his ground skills aren't up to par with him Kimbo is stronger. Same thing happens with Lesnar when people try to pick him apart on the ground and submit him. They're both too strong to pick a limb and make them tap. I think Big Country and everyone (except Rampage) is going to be surprised how well he adapts to MMA. He'll stick to what he does best but he'll be better prepared if things don't go his way.

Yeah he should have touched gloves after the nut shot... but you don't have to touch gloves before every fight... especially considering what happened in the first fight when Abe went to touch gloves before round 2 and that Mike guy shot on him and took him down...
I'd say that was more "teh gayness" than not touching gloves...

Ya Rampage told no one to ever touch gloves on the show again because Rashad's guy on week 1 faked a glove touch and took him down.
This fight was boring as hell, but I do agree Shivers absolutely won the first round so for the other guy to win the decision...
